⚠️ You must sync your watch data with the OnTracx app after every run, otherwise your progress will not be saved.
Step 1: Check Your Apps & Firmware
Install/update the latest Garmin Connect app and OnTracx app.
Update your OnTracx sensor to the latest firmware.
Step 2: Install the OnTracx Data Field
Open Garmin Connect on your phone.
Tap More → Connect IQ Store.
Search OnTracx Load I Data Field.
Tap Install to add it to your Garmin watch.
Step 3: Connect the Sensor to Your Watch
Use the serial number on the back of your sensor.
Two options:
Manually enter the serial in the Connect IQ app settings.
Or connect once directly—your watch will store that serial automatically.
ℹ️ After the first connection, your watch will always search for that sensor.
⚠️ Want to switch sensors? Remove the stored serial number in the settings first.
Step 4: Add the Data Field to a Running Profile
Press & hold UP on your watch → go to Settings.
Open Activities & Apps → choose your run type (Run, Trail, Treadmill…).
Select Data Screens → Add New → Custom Data → Field 1.
Go to Connect IQ Fields → choose OnTracx.
Move OnTracx to the top position.
🔁 Repeat for each running profile you use.
Step 5: Optimize Data Recording
Go to Settings → System → Data Recording.
Set frequency to Every Second for best accuracy.
For instructions on starting, stopping, and syncing a run, see our separate guide.
ℹ️ OnTracx data is stored in .fit files sent to Garmin, but Garmin does not display it in Connect. We’re working on deeper Garmin integration so we can match GPS and Garmin metrics with OnTracx load data.
