A non-API email address is one that isn't connected through one of our email integrations. If you do not have a Google Workspace or Microsoft Outlook email, you can still add your non-API email address in Open To Close. There are some limitations to using a non-API email address, but first, let's go over how to set up a non-API email address.

Adding a Non-API Email Address

Step 1:

From the navigation menu on the left side, click on the gear icon to get to your Settings, and select Email Addresses from the options.

Step 2:

Below the box on the right side, you will see Options: Add non-api email address.

Image shows the option to add a non-api email address in the right side under the Your Email Addresses box.

Since the email address is not part of one of our API integrations, it is not verified by OAuth authentication via Gmail or Outlook. If you want to learn more about what an OAuth is, follow this link.

Step 3:

Enter the non-API email address in the designated spot and click on Submit.

Image shows the limitations of using an non-api email address, which are listed below. It also shows where to add the email address and either cancel or submit the request.

Limitations to a Non-API Email Address

You will only be able to send messages with the non-API email address, all other functionality inside Open To Close will not be available.

Because this is an unverified email address, the chance of your message going to a recipient's SPAM folder may increase.

Messages sent from this email address will only be logged inside of Open To Close as a sent message and will not be logged in your Gmail or Outlook Sent folder. It is highly recommended that you set up all email addresses inside of Open To Close as an OAuth verified email.

Important:

Send From Name: You can define your Send From name for each email address by changing it in the box next to the email address. Open To Close cannot guarantee your email Sent From name will appear as you've defined. It is ultimately at the discretion of the API application when your email is delivered.
