Pre-save Broadcasts work best around release moments. A Pre-save Broadcast drops music into a fan’s chosen DSP library as soon as the release goes live on that platform. Most artists schedule Pre-save Broadcasts for midnight on release day. Artists also use Pre-save Broadcasts later in a campaign to boost a focus track or share a playlist with engaged fans.
Any fan who has pre-saved through Openstage can receive a Pre-save Broadcast, provided the release is available on the DSP the fan selected during pre-save.
Before you can send a Pre-save Broadcast, the release must exist in the Music Catalog.
🙌🏻 Top tip: The strongest release-day setup combines:
A Pre-save Broadcast
A stream page for the release
A Pre-save Broadcast gets the music into fan libraries immediately. An OUT NOW Broadcast gives fans context and a reason to listen right away.
Create a Pre-save Broadcast
Create a Pre-save Broadcast from the Music Catalog
You can create a Pre-save Broadcast directly from a release inside the Music Catalog.
Open the release inside the Music Catalog.
Click Create pre-save.
Openstage automatically links the catalog item to the Pre-save Broadcast.
Create a Pre-save Broadcast from Broadcasts
You can also create a Pre-save Broadcast from the Broadcasts section.
Go to Engage > Broadcasts.
Click New Broadcast.
Select Pre-save Broadcast.
Select the catalog item you want to deliver to fans.
Configure the Pre-save Broadcast
After creating the Pre-save Broadcast, complete the setup flow.
Note: If the release was selected from the Music Catalog, the catalog item will already be populated.
Name the Pre-save Broadcast (internal-only).
Select the Music Catalog item.
Review DSP availability.
Choose the audience.
Schedule or publish the Pre-save Broadcast.
Each DSP should display a green checkmark before scheduling the Pre-save Broadcast.
Please note: If a DSP shows a red cross or missing availability, refresh the release inside the Music Catalog first. The DSP may still be processing the release metadata.
Choose the audience for the Pre-save Broadcast
By default, a Pre-save Broadcast sends to every fan who has pre-saved through Openstage.
You can also segment the audience using the Audience Builder. For example, you might send a Pre-save Broadcast to:
Fans in a specific territory
Fans with a high Fan Score
Fans who engaged with a previous release
Fans on a specific DSP
Audience segmentation lets artists target the right fans instead of sending every Broadcast to every contactable fan.
Schedule the Pre-save Broadcast
Once the audience is selected, review the Pre-save Broadcast details and choose when the Broadcast should send.
Most artists schedule Pre-save Broadcasts for midnight on release day so the release lands in fan libraries as soon as the DSP makes the release live.
Openstage delivers the release automatically once the DSP makes the release live.
Please note: Unreleased tracks may display incomplete DSP availability until the final 24 hours before release. This is normal behaviour while DSP metadata propagates across platforms.
Use Pre-save Broadcasts for existing releases
Pre-save Broadcasts are not limited to new releases.
Artists also use Pre-save Broadcasts to:
Push fans toward a focus track
Re-engage listeners around a catalog release
Support a sync moment or viral clip
Drive traffic toward an editorial or exclusive playlist
These campaigns usually perform better when the Pre-save Broadcast is paired with an email or SMS Broadcast that explains why the release matters.
🙌🏻 Top tip: If you are promoting an older release, send an accompanying Broadcast explaining why fans should revisit the track. Context improves engagement.
Playlist Broadcasts
Playlist Broadcasts let artists deliver playlists directly into fan DSP libraries using the same Pre-save Broadcast flow.
To create a Playlist Broadcast, at least one track from the playlist must already exist in the Music Catalog. You do not need to own the playlist itself.
Create a Playlist Broadcast
Follow the standard Pre-save Broadcast flow.
Add the playlist link beneath the catalog item during the message step.
Add a playlist link for each supported DSP.
Each DSP requires its own playlist URL.
Note: If the playlist is unavailable on a fan’s selected DSP, Openstage cannot add the playlist to that fan’s library.
