Not every piece of content you share is meant for every fan. Gating in Posts lets you control who sees which sections, so core fans, subscribers, and custom audiences each get the content that's relevant to them.
Gating can be applied at two levels: to the entire Post via the Web tab (Web access), or to individual sections within the Post via the Edit tab.
Use whole-Post gating to encourage new fans to join your world by sharing a Post link publicly - visitors will be prompted to sign up to view it. Within the same Post, section-level gating can surface exclusive content for subscribers or specific audience segments, pulling fans further into your world.
⚪ Note: This article covers Gating setup specifically. For a full walkthrough of creating and publishing a Post, see Create and Publish Posts.
Gating types
Gating is configured per section in the Edit tab, or for the whole Post in the Web tab.
Everyone
The section is visible to all visitors. Fans do not need to sign up or sign in to see this content.
Signed in
The section is visible to fans who are signed in. Visitors who are not signed in will not see this content.
Subscribers
The section is visible to fans in any subscriber tier(s). You can add one or more subscriber tiers. Fans who are not subscribers of selected tiers will not see this content.
To restrict content to a specific tier, select Subscribers and choose the relevant tier from the dropdown. Fans not in the selected tier will not see this content.
Custom audience
The section is visible to fans in your selected custom audience segments. Fans not in those segments will not see this content.
For more information on Audiences, see Build an Audience.
⚪ Note: To restrict the web version of your Post to your email audience only, set Web access to Email audience(s) in the Web tab. Email audience(s) will only be visible if send as an email is set on the Email tab.
Gate options
For any gated section, you can configure what fans see if they do not meet the gating criteria or are not signed in. Set the following:
Preview aspect ratio
Preview image
Heading and CTA text
Sub-heading text
The button text is set automatically based on the gate type.
