Interface Overview: Where MCP Lives in Orphex

Everything to do with AI assistants sits on one screen in Orphex. Here is what each part of it does.

Written by Furkan Savrun

Almost everything to do with AI assistants happens in one place in Orphex: Settings → AI assistants (MCP). This article walks through what is on that screen.

Setting one up

Click Connect and pick your assistant. Orphex opens a panel with three things to copy across into it:

What you copy

What it is

Name

What the connection will be called in your assistant

Server address

The address your assistant talks to

Client ID

The value that identifies your connection

⚠️ Assistants mark the Client ID as optional. Leaving it out is the most common reason a connection fails the moment you add it, so copy it anyway.

Leave the Orphex panel open while you paste these in, then come back and confirm. The step-by-step version for each assistant is here: ChatGPT, Claude, and Microsoft 365 Copilot.

If your company runs ChatGPT or Claude on a team plan, you may not be allowed to add connectors yourself. The panel has a Copy message for your admin button that packages up everything they need to do it once for everyone.

Microsoft Copilot is different. It is set up with our team rather than by you, and the panel has a Contact us option for that.

Your existing connections

Each connection you have set up appears as a row showing whether it is working, which of your workspaces it can see, and when it was set up.

One of your workspaces is marked PRIMARY. That is the one the assistant assumes you mean when you do not say. It is whichever you picked first, and Orphex does not let you change it afterwards, so if you mostly ask about a different workspace, name it in your questions.

What you can do to a connection

One connection reads up to 50 workspaces, and they all have to sit under the same Orphex account.

Option

What it does

Add workspace

Lets this connection see another of your workspaces

Change account

Points the connection at a different Orphex account instead

Remove connection

Ends it. Access stops straight away

⚠️ Removing a connection is not reversible. You would set it up again from scratch, including pasting the values back into your assistant.

Orphex does not let you remove the last workspace from a connection. If that is what you are trying to do, you want Remove connection instead.

What this screen does not control

Two things people look for here live elsewhere.

Whether an assistant can change your ad accounts depends on your Orphex plan and on a switch for that workspace, not on this screen. You also need editing rights rather than view-only, which is set in Settings → Permissions.

Removing a connection here does not remove the connector entry inside ChatGPT or Claude. Tidy that up in the assistant's own settings.

What you see in the assistant itself

Once you are connected, most of what happens is in the chat rather than in Orphex.

When you ask for a change, the assistant shows you a summary before anything happens: what would change, the value now, and the value after. Nothing has reached Google or Meta at that point. You say yes and it goes ahead, then confirms it worked.

You have 15 minutes to agree to what you are shown. If that passes, the preview stays available for 24 hours and your assistant asks for a fresh confirmation on the same preview.

One thing that catches people out: adding a connector does not switch it on in every conversation. If the assistant says it has no Orphex tools, it is almost always turned off for that particular chat rather than broken. That and the other common problems are in troubleshooting the connection.

What this screen does not do

  • Orphex does not let you edit a connection after you make it. If something changes, remove it and set it up again.

  • Orphex does not let you pick which workspace is the primary one after connecting.

  • Orphex does not remove the connector entry from ChatGPT or Claude.

  • Orphex does not turn changes on from this screen. That depends on your plan and a workspace switch.

Common questions

Where do I find all this?
In Orphex, at Settings → AI assistants (MCP).

Can I have more than one assistant connected?
Yes. Each appears as its own row.

Can I see what someone changed through an assistant?
Yes. Everything is recorded, and you can ask the assistant itself what changed and who did it.

A colleague left. How do I cut off their access?
Yes, remove them in Settings → Permissions. That ends everything, including their assistant connections.
