Getting Started with the Pregnancy Coach

Overview

The Pregnancy Coach is a personalized exercise guidance tool built into the OTO Life app. It helps you stay safely active throughout your pregnancy with recommendations tailored to your current week and trimester.

The coaching program was created by Dr. Patricia Doyle-Baker, a certified exercise physiologist (CSEP-CEP) and full professor at the Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Calgary. Her research focuses on female reproductive health and physiology, making her work the scientific foundation for this program.


What the Pregnancy Coach does

The coach provides week-by-week exercise guidance focused on three key areas that support your changing body:

  • Arms — building upper body strength to help with carrying and lifting as your baby grows

  • Core — gentle strengthening to support your posture and reduce strain

  • Lower back — targeted exercises to ease discomfort caused by the added weight of pregnancy


How it works

  1. Select your pregnancy week — the coach adjusts its recommendations based on where you are in your pregnancy, from week 4 through to week 40.

  2. Get trimester-appropriate guidance — advice and exercises automatically adapt to your first, second, or third trimester.

  3. Follow your plan — work through the recommended exercises at a pace that feels right for you.
