Once you generate leads with Outgrow quizzes and calculators which are designed for conversion and engagement you can automatically send the leads to MailChimp using our Outgrow and MailChimp native integration.

Follow two simple steps to start sending the leads you collect on Outgrow to MailChimp

To access this integration, navigate to the Builder > Configure > Integrations on your Outgrow calculator or quiz. Click the Configure button on the MailChimp Integration.

When you click configure a pop up appears where you will have to input the API key for your MailChimp account.

To get your MailChimp API key head over to your MailChimp account. Click on the Account Name as shown below and select Account.

On the Account page click on Extras and a drop down will appear. From here, select API Keys.

Under the Your API keys section you'll find the API Key for your MailChimp account. ​​​​​

Copy this API key and paste it in the MailChimp Configure pop up on Outgrow.

Next step will be to select the Mailchimp list you want the lead added to. Select the drop down and choose the relevant list you want the lead added to.

For the Essentials plan
If you have subscribed to the Essentials plan or have limited integrations then only the name and email fields from Outgrow will be mapped by default to the respective fields from MailChimp. All you need to do is test the connection between Outgrow and MailChimp. A test record will be pushed to MailChimp's mailing list selected in the previous step.

Business and Enterprise plans or plans with advanced integration allow you to choose which fields to map between the two apps. Set up integration by mapping MailChimp fields with fields from your Outgrow calculator or quiz.

Note: You can see on the left side there is a wide range of Outgrow fields that you can map to Mailchimp - to view all Outgrow fields that can be mapped you can scroll down. On the right side you can choose the name of the field in MailChimp that you would like to send each Outgrow field to. Usually, you will map the email field, the name field and the Source field (in this case the source would be Outgrow) but you can also map the UTM source and other UTM codes, which signals the source of the traffic that came to outgrow. Other common fields to map include the Result values, the Calculator name, responses to certain questions and City information so that you can assign the lead to salespeople based on their territory.

Pro Tip 1: Make sure that the field types in MailChimp are text input or string fields so that there is no mismatch between the field types.
​Pro Tip 2: Any custom field added to MailChimp will automatically appear in the drop-down on the mapping pop up page. For example, if a specific question in the calculator is about marketing budget but you don't have a field in MailChimp for marketing budget you can create a custom field and then map the response to that question in Outgrow to the custom field in Mailchimp.

Once you are done mapping the fields, we will push a test lead to MailChimp with sample values. If connection and mapping is successful you will see the test lead in your MailChimp mailing list.

Your Outgrow calculator or quiz should now be successfully integrated with MailChimp! When you are done mapping all fields the MailChimp block shown below will say Active and have a green light, indicating that new leads will be forwarded to MailChimp.

Click on the small dropdown on top of the MailChimp block to see actions that can be performed on the MailChimp integration after it has been set up.

Re-configure- In case your MailChimp credentials have changed or you want to connect Outgrow with a different MailChimp account then you will have to Reconfigure your MailChimp integration to continue getting Outgrow leads in your MailChimp account.

Sync- If due to some error in connection your leads from a calculator or quiz have not been sent to MailChimp then you can Sync the leads to your MailChimp account after re-configuring. All the leads which were not sent to your account will be sent to MailChimp when you sync.

Deactivate - In case you don't want to send leads from a calculator or quiz to MailChimp, you can simply deactivate it.

For every Outgrow calculator or quiz you create you will have to activate or deactivate the integration from the config section on the builder, in order to start or stop sending leads collected on Outgrow to MailChimp.

Testing your Integration

When everything is setup we suggest you to test it out and make sure everything is working as you expect it. Publish your calculator or quiz, submit a lead on calculator or quiz, and check that the new lead shows up in Mailchimp (it can take up to a couple minutes to appear).
