What should you do when you see a "Session Timed Out" message when you come to play a scenario from your account?

This issue can prevent you from being able to use the scenarios altogether. Usually, this will be down to you missing one - or a combination of - the set up requirements listed below.

We've put these in order of what is most likely to be causing your sessions to time out before you've used a scenario, but please do make sure you work through all of these to identify what is going wrong for you.

Have you installed the OMS software onto your computer?

Remember, you'll need to do this to be able to use the scenarios. Refer to the Getting Started materials your institution has shared with you to find the links to install the OMS program onto your device.

Is your device compatible with OMS?

In order to use OMS you'll need to have a:

  • Mac computer running iOS Mojave, Catalina or later

  • A Windows 10 PC

Tablets, iPads and Chromebooks will not support OMS at this time.

Are you using Google Chrome as your browser?

You'll need to be using Google Chrome to ensure best performance. Please don't try to use Safari, Firefox, Edge, Internet Explorer or other browsers.

Are you logged into OMS anywhere else?

Make sure you are only logged into OMS in one place - the session you are trying to use the scenarios from. Check your other browser tabs and devices to make sure you are not logged in elsewhere

Have you cleared your Cache and Cookies?

Try going into your browser history and clearing all cache and cookies. You'll need to log back into your account to try to launch another scenario

Are you launching the scenario from your OMS account?

If you are using a Mac, make sure you are logging into your OMS account from Google Chrome to launch scenarios and not the desktop app icon.

Is the OMS app running in the background?

Make sure you completely close the OMS app on your computer before trying to launch another scenario.

Is your internet stable?

Check that you are running a reasonable internet speed using this link: http://speedtest.googlefiber.net/. You should be looking for higher than 5mbs for both upload and download speeds - if your speeds are below this you'll need to try the scenarios somewhere with a faster internet connection

Is your laptop plugged in?

Make sure your laptop is plugged in to its power source when trying to use the scenarios

Is your laptop in power saving mode?

Check that your laptop is not in power saving mode when trying to install the software.

Check the getting started materials that your institution has shared with you to find the links to install the OMS software. If you can't find this, get in touch with us via our web chat (bottom right corner of this screen).

If you have the links but need help installing the software, please use these videos:
