Document Link

What is a Document Link?

The Document Link can be found at the top of the Manage Document page for a document, and opens the most recently created and published version within it.

Benefits

A 'Document Link' allows you to seamlessly make updates to your content without affecting the user experience, whereas a 'Version Link' requires you to unpublish the specific version to make changes.

This is because a 'Version Link' will open a specific version of a document only, but the 'Document link' opens the most recently created and published version within a document.

Simply create a new version in the document (usually done by duplicating an existing version), make any changes and publish. The next time the Document Link is visited it will open your new version. Simple!

Example

Star Hotel have a welcome message for their visitors that they regularly update.
โ€‹
Rather than unpublish Version 1 each time they need to make changes, they simply duplicate it to create a new version.
โ€‹
They make their changes to the new version and publish it when ready. The update is seamless, it doesn't impact the readers and there's no need to distribute a new link because the 'Document Link' will open their latest version.
