Password Reset and Login Help

How to reset your password, resolve common login issues, and help residents who can't access their account.

Login issues are one of the most common reasons residents reach out to property managers. This article covers how to reset your own password as a property manager, how to help residents who can't log in, and what to do when the standard reset flow doesn't work.

Resetting Your Own Password

If you can't log in to your ParkingPass account:

  1. Go to my.parkingpass.com.

  2. On the login page, click Forgot Password? under the password field.

  3. Enter the email address associated with your account.

  4. Click Send Reset Email.

  5. Check your inbox for an email from ParkingPass with a password reset link.

  6. Click the link in the email and set a new password.

  7. Return to the login page and sign in with your new password.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Reset emails usually arrive within a minute or two. If you don't see one, check your spam or junk folder before requesting another reset.

Common Login Issues

"Wrong email or password" errors

  • Confirm you're using the correct email address associated with your account.

  • Check that Caps Lock isn't on β€” passwords are case-sensitive.

  • Try copying and pasting your password instead of typing, in case of invisible characters.

  • If you've recently changed your email address, use the new one.

  • If problems continue, use the Forgot Password? flow to set a new password.

Reset email never arrives

  • Check your spam, junk, and promotions folders.

  • Confirm you entered the correct email address.

  • Add support@parkingpass.com and any ParkingPass-related senders to your safe senders list.

  • If your email provider has aggressive filtering, try requesting a reset to a different email provider (Gmail, Outlook, etc.) β€” see Trouble Receiving Email Notifications for details on resolving delivery issues.

  • Wait 5–10 minutes β€” some email systems delay delivery.

Reset link doesn't work

  • Reset links expire after a limited time. If yours has expired, request a new one.

  • Make sure you're clicking the most recent reset email β€” older requests are invalidated when a new one is sent.

  • Try copying the full link and pasting it into your browser address bar.

SMS verification code not arriving

If your account uses SMS verification at login:

  • Confirm the phone number on your profile is current.

  • Check signal strength and message-blocking settings on your device.

  • If you've recently changed phones or numbers, the verification will go to the old number. Update your profile from another device or contact support@parkingpass.com.

  • Some carriers delay or block automated SMS β€” try connecting to Wi-Fi or contact your carrier if delays persist.

Account locked after multiple failed attempts

If you've entered an incorrect password too many times, your account may be temporarily locked for security. Wait a few minutes, then use Forgot Password? to reset rather than continuing to guess.

"This email is already in use"

If you see this when trying to register or change an email, the address is already associated with another ParkingPass account. Use the Forgot Password? flow with that email to recover access, or contact support@parkingpass.com if you believe the address shouldn't already be in use.

Helping a Resident Who Can't Log In

Residents reach out to property managers about login issues constantly. Here's how to handle the most common situations:

Walk them through Forgot Password

This resolves the majority of cases. Ask the resident to:

  1. Go to my.parkingpass.com.

  2. Click Forgot Password?.

  3. Enter the email on their account and submit.

  4. Check their email (including spam) for the reset link.

  5. Set a new password and try logging in.

If they're using the wrong email

If the resident believes they're using the right email but the reset isn't arriving, the email on their profile may be different from the one they're using.

You can verify and update it:

  1. Search for the resident on your dashboard.

  2. Open their profile.

  3. Note the email address shown.

  4. If incorrect, click Quick Actions β†’ Update User Info and change it to the correct address β€” see Updating User Account Details.

  5. Ask the resident to try Forgot Password again with the updated email.

If they aren't receiving any email from ParkingPass

This is usually a delivery issue, not a password issue. See Trouble Receiving Email Notifications for the full troubleshooting flow.

If SMS verification is failing

If the resident isn't receiving their SMS code, their phone number on the profile may be wrong. Verify it via their profile and update if needed (same Quick Actions β†’ Update User Info flow).

If they can't remember their email at all

Search the resident directory by name, unit number, or license plate to identify their account, then share the email on file. If the email is incorrect, update it.

What Property Managers Can and Can't Do

To protect resident security, password management is restricted:

What you can do

  • Update the email address on a resident's profile. This is often enough to fix login issues caused by stale email info.

  • Update the phone number on a resident's profile.

  • Update other profile fields (name, address, lease info, notification preferences) via Quick Actions β†’ Update User Info.

  • Resend the verification or invitation email from the resident's profile if they never received the original.

What you can't do

  • You cannot reset a resident's password directly. All password changes go through the Forgot Password flow β€” there's no admin override.

  • You cannot bypass SMS verification. Verification codes go to the phone on file. Update the phone number if it's wrong, then have the resident try again.

  • You cannot see or recover a resident's existing password. Passwords are encrypted and not visible to anyone, including ParkingPass Support.

When to Contact ParkingPass Support

  • A user reports they can't log in and the Forgot Password flow isn't working after the steps above.

  • An account appears to be locked and not unlocking after the standard wait.

  • A user reports their account is associated with the wrong email and you can't fix it from their profile.

  • You believe a security issue may be involved (suspicious access, locked-out compromised account, etc.).

Include in your message:

  • The user's name and email on file

  • The property name

  • A description of what's happening (and what you've already tried)

  • Any error messages they're seeing

Important Notes

  • Password reset links are time-limited. If a link doesn't work, request a fresh one.

  • For security reasons, ParkingPass doesn't notify you when someone unsuccessfully attempts to log in to your account β€” but repeated failures can lock the account temporarily.

  • If you've changed your email address recently, use the new email for Forgot Password. The old one will no longer work.

  • SMS and email verification cannot be disabled by request β€” they're security features applied platform-wide.

  • If a resident calls you in the middle of a registration or login flow, walking them through Forgot Password remotely is usually faster than them trying to figure it out themselves.
