Before You Start
Freight is added to each BOM in the Pricing & Lead Time tab. You can add multiple freight charges to the same BOM.
Freight can be applied to the entire BOM or to a specific manufacturer, lot, or line item.
Freight can be entered as a fixed dollar amount, percentage, or per-unit charge, depending on what it applies to.
Add Freight to a BOM
In the Pricing & Lead Time tab, click Add next to Freight.
Open the BOM and go to the Pricing & Lead Time tab.
At the bottom of the screen, find the Freight folder (next to Taxes and Services).
Click the pencil icon on the Freight folder.
4. Click + to add a freight line. The folder stays empty until you add a line.
5. Complete the following fields:
Name: Enter a name to identify the freight charge (e.g., LTL Freight or Local Delivery).
Apply To: Select what the freight charge should cover:
Lump Sum: Applies to the entire BOM, including lots but excluding options and services.
Manufacturer: Applies to all line items from a selected manufacturer, excluding items within lots.
Lot: Applies to a specific lot.
Line Item: Applies to a specific line item.
Calculation Method: Choose how the freight is calculated:
Flat Fee: Enter a fixed dollar amount.
% of Extended Discounted Cost: Calculates freight as a percentage of the applicable amount.
Per Quantity: Applies a charge per unit (available for Line Item only).
Magnitude: Enter the dollar amount, percentage, or per-unit charge based on your selected calculation method.
The freight charge is included in the BOM's Grand Total.

Note: You can add multiple freight charges to the same BOM. Click + to add another line and repeat the steps above. |
Show Freight on the Printed Quote
Adding freight to the BOM doesn't determine how it appears on the printed quote. When you click Create Quote, expand the Pricing and Lead Time section in the quote customization panel and choose how freight should appear:
Freight Options:
Freight Breakdown: Displays each freight charge separately by name and amount.
Spread Freight Across Products: Includes freight in the unit and extended product prices, giving customers an all-in price per line.
No Freight Breakdown: Hides individual freight charges while still including them in the Grand Total.
Summarized Total: choose Products, Services, Taxes, Freight, and Grand Total to show tax as its own line, or Grand Total Only to include it without a separate line.
Note: Only one freight display option can be selected per quote.
Common Situations
You need to add multiple freight charges
You can add multiple freight lines to the same BOM, each with its own name, calculation method, and application. For example, you can add a flat delivery fee for the entire BOM and a separate freight charge for a specific manufacturer.
You want freight included in product pricing
Select Spread Freight Across Products when creating the quote. This incorporates freight into the unit and extended prices rather than displaying it as a separate charge.
You don't want customers to see a freight breakdown
Select No Freight Breakdown when creating the quote. Freight will still be included in the Grand Total without displaying individual charges.
