Before You Start
Services are added to each BOM in the Pricing & Lead Time tab. You can add multiple services to the same BOM.
Add service fees (such as startup, design, storage, installation etc.) in the Service folder rather than as BOM lines. This keeps them separate from products on your totals and in tax calculations.
Services can be priced from a cost and margin, as a flat fee, or as a percentage, and can be linked to a specific lot.
Add a Service to a BOM
Open the BOM and go to the Pricing & Lead Time tab.
At the bottom of the screen, find the Service folder, next to Lots, Freight, and Taxes.
Click the pencil icon on the Service folder.
4. Click + to add a service line. The folder stays empty until you add a line.
5. Columns to be aware of when entering a service fee:
Services Name: Enter a name to identify the service (e.g., Startup & Commissioning).
Description: Add details about what the service includes.
Provider: Enter the provider of the service, such as the manufacture. If its not associated to a specific provider, leave blank.
Sell Calculation Method: Choose how the service is priced:
Flat fee: Enter a cost and margin, and Parspec calculates the sell price.
% of Ext. Discounted Cost: Calculates the service as a percentage of the extended discounted cost.
% of Ext. Sell Price: Calculates the service as a percentage of the extended sell price.
Percentage: If you chose a percentage for Sale Calculation Method, enter the percentage here.
Cost: If you chose a flat fee for Sale Calculation Method, enter the dollar amount of the fee here.
Lot: Optionally link the service to a specific lot.
Margin: Enter the margin to apply to the cost. If none, leave blank.
Taxable: Check this box if the service should be included in tax calculations.

Parspec calculates the Extended Cost, Sell Price, and Extended Price for you. The service total appears in bold on the Service folder and is included in the Grand Total.
Note: You can add multiple services to the same BOM. Click + to add another line and repeat the steps above.
Show Services on the Printed Quote
Adding services to the BOM doesn’t change what’s printed until you choose how totals are displayed. When you click Create Quote, go to the Pricing & Lead Time settings:
Lot & Financial Breakdown: Turn on Services breakdown to list each service on the quote.
Services Section Details: Choose which service details appear on the printed quote:
Quantity
Name
Provider
Description
Unit Price
Extended Price
Section Subtotal
Show Selling UOM
Taxable
Summarized Total: Choose how services appear in the totals at the bottom of the quote:
Products, Services, Taxes, Freight, and Grand Total: Shows services as their own line.
Grand Total: Includes services in the total without a separate line.
No Total: Hides the totals section.
Tip: Turn off Provider if you don’t want customers to see who’s performing the service.
Common Situations
The service should be taxed
Services aren’t taxed by default. Check Taxable on the service line. Learn more in How to Add Tax to a Quote.
The service only applies to part of the job
Use the Lot field to link the service to a specific lot.
You want to track profit on a third-party service
Enter the Provider, your Cost, and a Margin. Parspec calculates the sell price, and the service is included in your BOM’s margin totals.
