How to Turn On Warnings When Creating Your Quote

Learn how the quote warnings system works, what triggers a warning, how warnings appear in your BOM and at quote creation, and how to customize warning settings for your branch or individual BOMs.

The warnings system flags potential pricing issues in your BOM before you generate a quote — helping you catch missing prices, unassigned lots, and margin problems before they reach your customer.

1.What Triggers Warnings

A warning appears when any of the following conditions exist on a line item or lot:

  • A lot is unassigned or assigned to a hidden product.

  • A product or lot has 0% or negative margin (sell price is too low or missing).

  • A product or lot has no Extended Sell Price — because quantity, sell price, or both are missing.

  • The manufacturer is not part of your Company Manufacturer list.

2. How Warnings Appear in the Pricing and Lead time Tab

  1. Toggle the Warning Toggle on to view or hide warnings in the tab.

  2. When warnings are on, you'll see a count of issues (e.g., "3 Warnings").

  3. Orange highlights indicate exactly where the problem is:

    • Missing Extended Sell Price → Quantity/Sell Price cells highlighted.

    • 0% or Negative Margin → Margin cell highlighted.

    • Unrecognized Manufacturer → Manufacturer cell highlighted.

    • Multiple warnings → All affected cells highlighted.

3. How Warnings Appear at Quote Creation

If your quote has unresolved warnings when you click Create Quote, a modal will appear. You can choose to:

  • Review Warnings — returns to the Pricing & Lead Time tab with warnings turned on.

  • Proceed Anyway — continues creating the quote with unresolved warnings.

Note: Warnings also appear on the BOM selection screen as a reminder of any unresolved issues before generating your PDF.

4. Customize Warning Settings

Admins can set default warning preferences for all BOMs in a branch. Individual users can also adjust warnings on a quote-by-quote basis.

Admin — set branch defaults:

  1. Go to ⚙️ Settings > Branch Location > BOM Settings.

  2. Toggle each warning type on or off as your default.

Users — adjust for a specific BOM:

  1. In the Pricing & Lead Time tab, click the three vertical dots.

  2. Select Warning Settings and toggle individual warnings on or off.

Warning types you can toggle:

  • Missing Extended Sell Price

  • No Margin

  • Unassigned Lots

  • Manufacturer Outside of Company List

  • Additional warning modal (reminder before quote creation)

Note: Warnings do not block quote creation unless the reminder modal is enabled. Once all warnings are resolved, the toggle disables and confirms there are no issues remaining.
