The fewer manufacturers listed, the faster and more focused your search will be.
List only the manufacturers already present on the job — this reduces complexity and keeps results actionable.
For jobs that only accept alternates from specific vendors, take the time to refine this list before searching.

| 2. Use Technical Attributes Effectively |
Enter all acceptable values for each relevant attribute — not just the exact spec, but the full range you'd accept.
For attributes that are hard requirements, click the lock icon on that attribute to restrict results to only those that strictly match your input.
Note: Unlocked attributes allow Parspec to suggest best-overall matches that may not match every field. Lock an attribute only when that spec is truly non-negotiable. |
| 2. Enter in Additional Criteria to Search |
Use the Additional Criteria free text field alongside attributes for the best results. Follow these practices:
Avoid filler words — skip phrases like "I am looking for…" or "I want to find…"
Separate multiple requirements with commas — e.g. black trim, round shape, 2'
Try different formatting variations — e.g. 2'x2' or 2x2 or 2 x 2
Add as much relevant context as possible — more detail only supplements the search, it won't reduce the weight of your other criteria.

Product Finder extracts images from the source datasheet to help surface alternates that visually match the original product.
This works automatically when a source datasheet is attached to the line item.
Use image-based results alongside attribute matching for the most accurate alternate suggestions.
