When you are about to go live this guide points you in the right direction to find how to do a few things in Tali and how you can ensure a smooth first service!
First things first
Plan how you will distribute your QR codes to your students and staff members, it is super important that they have these in their possession prior to your first meal service.
Decide on a policy for your QR codes - we would strongly suggest you start as you mean to go on, ie. No QR, No Meal scenario so your students know to get their QR codes out ready for use and to not join the queue until they have them to hand. This is the single most important thing in ensuring that you have a speedy service.
Top Tip: Ensuring all students have a QR to hand, might just take a member of staff walking the queue in the early days to check students are ready to be served.
Q. What will you do if a student does not have a QR code?
A. We have supplied you with spare QR codes, so you could allocate these as required, simply by, adding the associated PIN into Tali and then shortly afterward this PIN/QR will be linked to the pupil/staff account on the Tills.
This is how you do this - Tali - Associating PIN & QR codes to student accounts
Make sure all your Tills are charged and connected to the Wi-Fi prior to the first meals service - can you see that you have a Wi-Fi fan symbol in the top right hand corner?
Refresh your Tills - Prior to every service, refresh your Till (POS) this will ensure that any last minute additions to your pupils, changes in PIN/QR’s will reflect at Till level
Top Tip: Looking at the menu on the POS you will see in the top left-hand corner your school logo - all you need do is press on the logo to refresh the screen and then click OK. We’d suggest doing this regularly during the first few services of a new term.
Q. Do you need to change any buffers (a buffer is what we call an overdraft)? This allows purchasers at the Till an overdraft facility on a temporary or permanent basis, this is easily changed in Tali>Till>Buffer Statement
A. Usually at your organisation a user of Tali will be responsible for changes required to any buffers after the Pebble setup team have applied any that you have requested.
