Setting up your iPads as tills is quick and easy; just follow the steps below.

Updated this week

Pebble usually manages iPads using our Mobile Device Management (MDM) system called JAMF Now. If you’ve chosen to use your own iPads instead, please follow this guide carefully for each iPad before your Go Live day.

Setting up your iPads

  • Follow the prompts:

    • Language: English

    • Country or Region: United Kingdom

    • Set Up: Choose Set Up Manually

3. Connect to Wi-Fi

  • Choose your Wi-Fi Network (SSID) and enter the password.

  • Tap Join.

  • Wait for a blue tick to appear next to your network, then tap Next.

Using a mobile hotspot?
Make sure Low Data Mode is turned off on your iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi

  2. Tap the info (i) next to your hotspot network

  3. Turn off Low Data Mode

4. Set Up Without a Passcode

  • At the Create a Passcode screen:

    • Tap Passcode Options

    • Select Don’t Use Passcode twice

    • Tap Continue

5. Enable Location Services

This step is essential to ensure all sales are recorded with the correct date and time. If it's not completed before your Go Live, sales may be logged inaccurately, which can impact Free School Meal (FSM) allowances.

  • Select Enable Location Services – this is important for your till setup.

6. Finish iPad Setup

  • If prompted to edit the home screen, tap Dismiss

  • Open the Settings app

  • Tap Finish Setting Up Your iPad

  • If asked to set a passcode again:

    • Select Set Up Passcode

    • Tap Passcode Options

    • Choose Don’t Use Passcode twice

7. Prepare for Go Live

  • Return to the home screen (press Home/Touch ID).

  • Remove any unnecessary apps

  • Install the SumUp POS App:
    👉 Download here

  • Once you have downloaded the App you will need to Login to the SumUp App, here is the link to show you how to do this when you are ready:

  • Ensure each iPad is:

    • Fully updated (software & security updates - don't forget that you will need to review this periodically)

    • Connected to Wi-Fi in the exact spot it will be used

  • Place the iPads into their protective cases, ready for Go Live.
