Registering a minor for a horse show as a guardian

Updated over a month ago

If you are a parent of trainer who regularly registers a minor for a horse show, follow the below steps to set up your accounts.

This will take about 5-10 minutes to set up the first time, after which all future registrations will take less than 2 minutes.

1. Create Two Accounts:

For You (Guardian): Start by creating an account for yourself as the guardian. This will be a separate account from your child’s, and you’ll need to provide your personal details including your date of birth to verify that you are an adult.

For Your Child (Exhibitor): Create a second account for your child. This will be the account that you use to register your child for events. Make sure to use a different email address for each account, as the system doesn’t allow the same email for both profiles.

2. Add Each Other as Team Members:

After both accounts are created, log in to each profile separately.

For the Guardian Profile:
Go to your account settings and add your child’s account as a team member.

For the Child’s Profile:
Similarly, go to your child’s account settings and add your account as a team member. This ensures that the guardian-child relationship is established within the system.

3. Complete Horse Profile:

After creating the account for your child, the next step is to create a profile for your child’s horse.

You’ll need to fill out the horse’s details, such as the horse’s name, breed, and discipline.

Completing this information will allow the system to associate the horse with the event registration properly.

If you don't have all the horses paperwork, you can come back at upload it later. As long as it is saved to the profile, the event organizer will be able to view the latest documents.

4. Register for the Event:

Once the all profile are created, navigate to the event registration page.

Search for the Event: Click on the search button to find the specific horse show event you want to register for.

Team confirmation page. The first screen of the registration process is the 'Confirm Team' page. Be sure to to add your child and yourself to the 'People', and the horse to 'Horse' section.

To add a person or horse, click 'Add Person' and Add Horse' then search for their profiles.

Once all profiles are error free, click 'Start' to begin registration.

Add Your Child as the Rider: On the event registration page, select your child’s name as the rider.

Add the Horse: Next, select the horse from the list of horses you have created in the system.

This ensures that your child is registered for the right event with the correct horse.

5. Add Yourself as Guardian:

On the “Team Roles” page, you will be prompted to confirm the people involved in the registration.

Click “Add Team Member” and select your name (the guardian’s account).

Then select the role of 'Guardian'.

Now, you will be officially linked as the guardian for your child’s registration and will be able to sign the necessary documents.

6. Sign Liability Waiver:

After adding yourself as the guardian, the system will show you the liability waiver that needs to be signed.

If you are registering logged in to your child's account, the guardian paperwork will be sent to your guardian account to sign.

7. Payment and Confirmation:

Once the liability waiver is signed, you’ll be prompted to proceed with payment.

Final Step: Review the details, including the horse’s information, rider, event specifics, and fees.

Proceed to Pay: Click on the payment section to complete the transaction for the event registration.

After payment is successfully processed, you’ll reach the confirmation page. The registration process is complete, and you’ll be officially signed up for the event.

Additional Steps After Registration:

Sign Documents: Once registration is completed, log back into your guardian account and navigate to the “Paperwork” section to sign any remaining guardian documents, including the liability waiver for your child.
