Perifit Care and Care+ are designed primarily to strengthen the pelvic floor and help with urinary incontinence. While the pelvic floor also plays a role in bowel control, our programs are not specifically designed to treat fecal incontinence.
Can pelvic floor training help with fecal incontinence?
The pelvic floor muscles contribute to the control of both the bladder and bowel. Pelvic floor muscle training may therefore help improve bowel control in some people with fecal incontinence.
However, fecal incontinence can have different causes, and the most appropriate treatment depends on the individual.
What about Perifit Care and Care+?
Perifit Care and Care+ use a vaginally inserted probe with sensors, and our training programs are primarily designed for urinary incontinence, including stress, urge and mixed incontinence.
So, while training with Perifit Care(+) may support overall pelvic floor strength and function, we cannot guarantee that it will improve fecal incontinence, and our devices are not intended to specifically treat this condition.
If fecal incontinence is your main concern, we recommend speaking with your health professional or a pelvic health physiotherapist, ideally one experienced in anorectal rehabilitation. They can assess the underlying cause and recommend the most appropriate treatment for you.
