Why And How Do My Abdominals Affect My Perifit Care(+) Training?

Understand how the probe's sensors work and what the Contraction Quality Meter is really measuring

Some users notice that their abdominal muscles seem to influence their Perifit Care(+) training.

For example, you may notice that:

  • the game character moves when you tighten your abs

  • the Contraction Quality Meter stays green even when you're intentionally using your abdominals

  • you're unsure whether you're actually contracting your pelvic floor correctly

These situations are all related to how the probe's two sensors work.

How the Perifit Care(+) Sensors Work

Your Perifit Care(+) probe contains two pressure sensors.

Bottom Sensor

Located near the vaginal entrance when the probe is inserted.

This sensor measures the pressure generated by your pelvic floor muscles and controls the game character.

Top Sensor

Located higher inside the vagina.

This sensor measures pressure inside the pelvic cavity (intra-abdominal pressure), which can come from:

  • your abdominal muscles

  • your breathing

  • your buttocks

  • squeezing your thighs

  • nearby organs

  • other movements that increase pressure inside your abdomen

The top sensor does not control the games. It is only used to calculate your Contraction Quality.

Why Can My Abdominals Move the Character?

Normally, only the bottom sensor controls the games.

However, if the probe shifts position during training, the bottom sensor may start detecting pressure caused by bearing down or abdominal pressure instead of a true pelvic floor contraction.

This can make it seem as though your abs are moving the character, even though the probe has simply changed position.

To reduce the chances of this happening:

  • train in a stable position (lying down for Perifit Care, sitting for Perifit Care+)

  • avoid excessive body movement during exercises

  • for Perifit Care+, position the blocker as close as possible to the bottom sensor so it rests comfortably between your labia and helps keep the probe stable

Understanding the Contraction Quality Meter

The Contraction Quality Meter compares the pressure generated by your pelvic floor muscles with the pressure inside your abdomen (intra-abdominal pressure).

Its goal is not to detect whether you're using your abs, but to help you perform safe and effective pelvic floor contractions.

  • 🟢 Green: Your pelvic floor is providing enough support to safely counter the pressure in your abdomen. This indicates a good-quality, safe contraction.

  • 🟠 Orange: Your pelvic floor is supporting the pressure, but there is room to improve your technique and reduce unnecessary intra-abdominal pressure.

  • 🔴 Red: There is too much intra-abdominal pressure compared with your pelvic floor contraction. This often means you're pushing down, holding your breath, or relying too much on other muscles, and your technique should be adjusted.

A red score doesn't necessarily mean you're only using your abdominal muscles. The meter measures the balance between pelvic floor support and intra-abdominal pressure, which can also be influenced by your breathing, glutes, thighs, body position, or even nearby organs.

If your pelvic floor contraction remains stronger than the additional abdominal pressure, the meter may stay green.

How to Improve Your Training Technique

To get the most accurate readings:

  • focus on contracting your pelvic floor rather than pushing downward

  • breathe normally instead of holding your breath

  • avoid squeezing your buttocks or thighs excessively

  • stop training if your pelvic floor becomes fatigued and your abdominal muscles begin taking over

Improving your technique will help you achieve better contraction quality and more effective training.
