Overview
Android customers have two ways to install your loyalty card: adding it to Google Wallet or installing it as a Progressive Web App (PWA) on their home screen. This guide walks through both experiences so you can assist customers if they need help.
The customer installation flow
Step 1: Open the card installation form
The customer opens your card installation link or scans the QR code (from your promotional materials, website, or ad campaign) using their camera app. This opens the card issuing form on their phone.
Step 2: Fill in their details
The customer fills in the fields you configured in your card issuing form. By default, this includes:
First Name
Last Name
Contact Number
Email
Any fields you marked as required must be completed before the customer can proceed.
Step 3: Install the card
The customer chooses one of two installation options:
Option A: Install as a home screen app (PWA)
The customer taps Install on Home Screen.
The card is saved as a web app on their home screen, behaving like a native mobile app without needing an app store.
This is the recommended option for Android users since PWA supports push notifications.
Option B: Install in Google Wallet
The customer taps Install in Google Wallet.
The card loads in Google Wallet. The customer taps Add to save it.
They can then tap Open App to view the card in Google Wallet.
Once installed, the customer can open the card to view their balance, stamps, transaction history, barcode, and card details — including available rewards, terms, and your active links to social media, website, and contact information.
FAQs
A customer says they can't find the Google Wallet option — what's wrong?
Make sure the Google Wallet Installation button is enabled in your card's settings. If it's disabled, the button won't appear on the installation form.
Can a customer use both installation methods?
Yes. A customer can install the card as both a PWA and in Google Wallet. Both will reflect the same card data.
How does a customer view their card details after installation?
In Google Wallet, the customer opens the app, taps on the loyalty card, and can view their barcode, transaction history, stamps or points balance, available rewards, terms, and your active links. For PWA, the customer taps the app icon on their home screen.
