Kiosk mode

Automate stamp and point accrual by scanning customer cards — no manual input required.

Overview

Kiosk mode is a scanner feature that automates the accrual of stamps or points when a customer's card is scanned. Instead of manually entering amounts or tapping buttons, the system processes the transaction automatically the moment the card is scanned.

This is ideal for businesses that want to speed up the loyalty process at the point of sale. You can run kiosk mode on any device you already use — computer, tablet, or smartphone.

Kiosk mode also includes duplicate protection, allowing you to set a delay between repeated scans of the same card (e.g., 10 or 20 seconds) to prevent unintentional duplicate transactions.

Supported and unsupported card types

Kiosk mode works with

  • Stamp card — Visit mechanics

  • Stamp card — Stamp mechanics (if automatic reward write-off is enabled in the card settings, you'll receive a notification in the scanner when a reward is written off during stamp accrual)

  • Reward card — Visit mechanics

  • Reward card — Points mechanics

  • Multipass card

  • Membership card

  • Coupon card

Kiosk mode does not work with

  • Stamp card — Spend mechanics or Products

  • Reward card — Spend mechanics or Products

  • Cashback card

  • Discount card

  • Gift card

Note: If a card type doesn't support kiosk mode, the toggle will appear greyed out in the settings. These cards require manual input (e.g., entering a purchase amount) which cannot be automated.

How to enable kiosk mode

  1. Open the Scanner app.

  2. Tap the menu icon in the top-right corner.

  3. Tap Kiosk Mode.

  4. Set the delay time between repeated scans (e.g., 10 or 20 seconds) to prevent duplicate transactions.

  5. You'll see a list of all card templates from your account. Enable kiosk mode for the cards you want by toggling them on.

  6. Tap Start to activate the camera and begin scanning.

When a customer's card is scanned, the transaction is processed automatically — no extra steps required.

Permissions

  • Both administrators and managers can enable and use kiosk mode

  • Only the administrator (main account login) can change kiosk mode settings (delay time, which cards are enabled)

  • Managers can work in kiosk mode but cannot modify its settings

Important things to know

  • No transaction comments in kiosk mode — Since transactions are processed automatically, you cannot add internal notes to individual transactions

  • Kiosk mode disables on logout or device shutdown — If the device is turned off or the scanner app is logged out, kiosk mode will be disabled. You'll need to re-enable it manually when you log back in

  • Transactions are tagged — Kiosk mode transactions appear in your transaction history with the device type marked as "kiosk," so you can distinguish them from manual transactions

FAQs

What is kiosk mode for?

Kiosk mode automates stamp and point accrual, making the process faster for businesses where the standard scanner workflow feels too time-consuming. Scan the card and the transaction is processed instantly.

Can I turn off kiosk mode after enabling it?

Yes. Go back to the kiosk mode settings at any time and disable automatic accrual. After that, all transactions will require manual processing.

Should I test kiosk mode before using it with real customers?

Yes. We recommend testing on a test card first to make sure accrual works exactly as you expect.

Why can't I enable kiosk mode for certain cards?

Cards that require manual input — such as entering a purchase amount (Spend mechanics, Cashback, Discount, Gift) — cannot be automated. Kiosk mode only works with card types where the transaction can be completed without additional data entry.

What happens if the same card is scanned twice quickly?

The delay setting prevents duplicate transactions. If you set the delay to 20 seconds, the same card cannot be processed again within that window.
