Overview

When you send a push notification, customers with your loyalty card installed on their iPhone see it directly on their lock screen — just like any other app notification. Tapping the notification opens the card immediately, showing the customer their updated information.

What the customer sees

Lock screen

Push notifications appear on the customer's lock screen automatically. The message you wrote is displayed along with your card's icon.

Tapping a notification

When the customer taps the notification, their loyalty card opens in Apple Wallet. If anything has changed — such as a new stamp, updated point balance, or an earned reward — the change is highlighted in the top-right corner of the card.

Card details

From the card, the customer can view the back side to see their full details including active links, referral program link, card expiration date, next reward and how many points are needed, current point or stamp count, total visits, your website link, email, terms of use, and your business contact information.

The card also shows when it was last updated (e.g., "Updated 1 minute ago").

FAQs

Do customers need to enable anything to receive push notifications?

Customers need Allow Notifications and Automatic Updates enabled in their card settings. If a customer reports they aren't receiving notifications, ask them to check these settings by tapping the three-dot menu (···) on their card in the Wallet app.

Are changes highlighted automatically?

Yes. When a transaction changes the customer's balance, stamps, or rewards, the updated value is highlighted on the card when they open it from the push notification.

Can customers see all my active links from the notification?

Not directly from the notification itself — but when they tap the notification and the card opens, all active links are visible on the back of the card.
