How to replace an empty image field with an alternative text field value in Elements app templates
When generating content in the Elements app, you have the option to use a text field as a substitute in a template if an image is unavailable. This ensures that a designated text field value will display rather than blank space. For example, consider a scenario where an attachment field on a company record is empty and missing a logo. With this setting enabled, the template will automatically insert the company name to replace the missing logo. Admin or Design level permissions are required to edit templates in the Elements app.
To replace an empty attachment field with an alternative text field value:
1. | Open the Elements app from the apps side panel |
2. | Click the cog icon to open the Manage Templates window |
3. | Click into an existing template to edit If creating a new template, insert all applicable fields before proceeding |
4. | Select the image attachment field on the template canvas |
5. | The Table Field panel will appear to the right |
6. | Under the Replace with Value if Empty dropdown, choose the text field you want to include if the image is unavailable |
7. | Apply additional formatting as you see fit |
8. | Click Save Changes |
When this setting is applied, the text field value will only display if an image is unavailable. The logo will appear on default unless the image is missing in the record attachment field.
