Stripe Connect is what lets your club accept online payments. You'll need it active before you can turn on any paid membership, and before you can activate Ads Space.
How to activate it
Choose Paid for a membership type, or attempt to activate Ads Space.
If Stripe Connect isn't active yet, you'll see a screen explaining the processing fee and what your club will receive.
Tap Activate Stripe. You'll be taken to Stripe's own onboarding flow to enter your business details, bank account, and identity verification.
Once you're done, you're returned to PLAI with confirmation that your payment method is active.
Note: Note: Stripe's onboarding flow will ask you for a few things directly: your First Name, Surname, Email Address, Date of Birth, Home Address, and Phone Number. It may also prompt you to verify with Photo ID (this step is optional at this stage). Under Industry, select Other Membership Organisations, and use Community Sports Club as your Product Description. This all happens inside Stripe's own screens, not PLAI's.
You can connect more than one Stripe account to your club with no set limit. When creating a membership, if you have multiple accounts, you'll be asked which one should receive payments for it.
Fees
Processing is fixed at 4.4% plus 50p per transaction. This isn't something you or PLAI can adjust. Whenever you set a price, PLAI shows you a live breakdown of what your club actually receives after the fee.
If you abandon the setup
If you start Stripe Connect but don't finish, you'll be returned to the activation screen and can pick up where you left off, or retry from scratch.
FAQ
Do I need to set up Stripe Connect separately for each membership type?
No. It's set up once per club and applies to all paid memberships and to Ads Space.
Is my Ads Space subscription billed through Stripe Connect?
No. Stripe Connect is only for the money your members pay you. Your Ads Space subscription is billed separately, to a card you enter at checkout.
