Welcome to ubbu!

After receiving your confirmation e-mail, you will be able to create a password and login to the platform for the first time. Now it’s time to get busy.

Before you start, make sure you have the necessary equipment for your ubbu classes. We recommend a computer connected to a video projector and speakers, one computer (or tablet) per student or pair of students, and internet access. For more detailed requirements, see the following article: What do I need to use ubbu?

Step 1

Create your first class

When you login ubbu for the first time, in teacher mode, you will see this screen:

To add a new class to your account, simply press the + New class button. You'll be able to give your class a name, choose a school year and enter a number of students. When you're done, click Create class.

Then your new class will appear on the main page.

You can change the name of the class, the school year, and add or remove students by clicking on Edit.

By clicking on the •••Options button in the top right-hand corner and choosing Class Management, you can also edit your students' accounts directly.

For security reasons, you cannot customize their usernames, but you can link the real names of each student. Check out our article Connecting your students usernames with their real names to learn more.

In this page you can also see your student's default password. Write it down as you'll need it later.

Step 2

Navigate the curriculum

After you have created your first class, click on it to access the curriculum.

On the class page you can see the list of available lessons. Clicking on a lesson takes you to the details, so you can see the title, description and lesson plan. Click on the Lesson plan button to open a document that describes each feature of the lesson in more detail.

In each lesson there is a list of available resources, with the title and type (video, quiz, exercise, etc.). You can click on them at any time to preview them, without starting the lesson. Click on one to enter a lesson.

Each resource has associated instructions, in which you will find information to support the lesson. You can see them on the left-hand side of your screen.

Step 3

Students login

Remember when you created your class and, with it, your student´s accounts?

Each student was given a username, which is composed of an animal, a color or an adjective, and a number. This is the username they will use to login into the platform, and the default password is the one you pointed out earlier.

As soon as each student logs in, ask them to change their password to something only they know for security reasons. For more information, see the article How do I change a student´s password? .

As each student login into ubbu, you can see that they get a blue ball next to their name in the student list. This indicates that they are online.

Your students can also log into the platform in dual mode. This allows you to not need as many computers to teach a class. To find out how to double login check out the article  Login to ubbu as a student.

Step 4

Your first lesson

When your whole class is connected you can start your first lesson. To do this, press the Enter button. You will access the first resource, or slide, of the lesson, where the start bar is.
When you click on the Presentation button in the upper right corner you start the lesson together with your students.

In the top bar you can navigate between resources. Your students will see the same slide you choose if you select teacher mode, but they will only be able to interact, to do an exercise or answer a quiz, if you choose student mode, on the right-hand side of the bar.

Whenever you need to, you can choose teacher mode again so that the lesson is "locked" and your students cannot complete exercises. This is useful when you want to give an explanation or take a break from the lesson.

To see your students progress throughout the lesson, simply press the button in the upper right corner.

There you can see the progress of each student, as well as the results of the exercises they have completed.

When you reach the last slide, press Stop presentation and to end your lesson press Finish.

The lesson will appear as done and a lesson report will be generated, which you can see in the lesson start view, under the Lesson progress button.

If by chance your class has not completed all the exercises or moments of the lesson, you can at any time teach the lesson again by clicking on Presentation button. Students can also finish lessons at home. The lesson report will be updated to reflect the new changes.

Step 5

Enjoy ubbu!

Now that you have finished your first lesson, the sky is the limit. Take the time to read the remaining articles in our Help Center to learn more about using the platform.

At any time you can always contact us by sending an e-mail to hello@ubbu.io with your doubts or questions.
