Formatting your spreadsheet

Before you upload the spreadsheet, you need to make sure that all of your information is saved in the correct format, as shown here:

We recommend putting all of the postcodes into a separate column to the addresses. You can download this example spreadsheet here.

Uploading your spreadsheet

Once your spreadsheet is in the correct format, you will need to go to the "Add People" page. This is found by clicking on the "+ Add New People" button on the homepage (found by clicking on "plinth" in the top left). Which will take you to a page like this:

If you then click on "Upload a Spreadsheet", you will be asked to upload your spreadsheet. Once you have uploaded the spreadsheet, you will ned up on a page like this:

The aim of this page is to match the columns on your spreadsheet with the fields that are already in plinth. For more details on fields in plinth see here.

Matching fields

One by one, you match each column in the spreadsheet to one on plinth (or if it isn't there you can add it). To match a column, you click on the dropdown next to the column name and select the field it relates to from the list:

If it isn't there, you can click "+ Add New Field". Before adding a field, we would recommend reading this guide on the different types of fields.

Removing Duplicates

Once you have matched all of the fields, you click "Next". plinth will then automatically try and match duplicate values. You can mark whether or not they are duplicates on this page:

Once you have "Confirmed" all of the duplicates, click "Next" and you reach the final stage.

Adding a tag

The final step is to add a tag to the people that have been uploaded. You only need to do that if they all belong to one group, but it is good practice to tag everyone, so you can categorise people into different groups:

Then click "Upload data" and you are done!
