📁 File Delivery Method

Let clients choose how they receive their files while they book, and charge for the delivery work your team already does.

File delivery methods let your clients choose, while they book, how they want to receive their files. You define the methods, and you can put a price on the ones that take extra work. It turns something your team already does after every session into something clients choose, and pay for, up front.

🔧 Where to find it

Storefront → File delivery method

💵 Get paid for work you already do

Most studios already go beyond a basic download. Somebody uploads the raw footage to the client's Google Drive, sends a WeTransfer of the multitrack audio, or rushes files out the same evening because the client asked nicely. That work usually goes unbilled.

File delivery methods put a name and a price on it. Keep a standard method free, and offer the extras as paid upgrades, for example:

  • Self-Service File Transfer, free: the client downloads their files from Podyx.

  • Upload to your cloud, paid: your team uploads everything to the client's own Google Drive or Dropbox.

  • Same-day delivery, paid: files out the day of the recording.

  • Raw files and stems, paid: every camera angle and isolated track, not just the edit.

Each method describes what your studio promises (what is delivered, where and how fast), so the client understands exactly what the upgrade buys.

💡 Clients rarely object to a delivery fee when the better option is clearly explained. Name the upgrade after the result the client gets, not the tool you use.

🛠 Create your methods

Add as many methods as you want to offer. For each one you set:

  • A name, for example "Self-Service File Transfer" or "Upload to your cloud"

  • A description, so clients understand the difference

  • Whether it is free or paid

On the same page you can also:

  • Switch file delivery methods on or off.

  • Change the order the methods appear in. Put the one you most want clients to pick first.

  • Link add-ons that already include file delivery. When a client books one of those add-ons, the file delivery step is skipped, so they are never asked to choose, or pay, for delivery twice.

🔀 Showing the step in the booking flow

Whether clients are asked to choose a method at all is set in Booking Rules: switch the file delivery step on or off in the booking flow, and choose whether picking a method is required or optional. See Booking Rules.

💡 If you set up methods and clients never see them, check that the step is switched on in Booking Rules.

🛒 Where clients choose

During booking, the client picks how they would like to receive their files from the methods you created, paid upgrades included. It comes up when they are already thinking about the finished work, which is the best moment to offer something better.

The chosen method then shows on the session page under What's booked, alongside the service and setup, so whoever handles delivery can see exactly what was promised without asking.

💡 Check What's booked before you deliver. A paid upgrade that gets missed is the fastest way to turn an upsell into a refund.

🔗 How this relates to delivering the files

A file delivery method records what the client chose and charges for it. It does not move any files itself. When you deliver through Podyx, the files are shared from File sharing & collaboration, where the client can download them and review videos you send for review. See File Sharing & Collaboration.

🧠 Why it matters

  • Extra delivery work gets paid instead of quietly absorbed on every booking.

  • Clients get a real choice instead of whatever you happened to do last time.

  • Expectations are set before the session, which cuts the "where are my files" messages afterwards.

  • Your team knows what was promised, because it is right there on the session.

✅ Summary

  • Set up file delivery methods at Storefront → File delivery method.

  • Give each method a name, a description and a free or paid price. Keep one free and price the extras your team already does.

  • Reorder methods, and link add-ons that include file delivery so the step is skipped when one is booked.

  • Whether the step appears in the booking flow, and whether it is required, is set in Booking Rules.

  • Clients choose a method while they book, and it appears under What's booked on the session page.

  • The files themselves are delivered through File sharing & collaboration.
