Power Spelling allows you to record your own voice for words, sentences, and definitions. This customized feature allows you connect with your students on a very personal level.
Personal Voice Feature
To use the Personal Voice feature, you will need to select a list from My Word Lists located in the left menu.
If you would like to use your voice from a Shared List, Grade Level List, Publisher List or Public list, first you will need to make a copy of the list. Once you have copied the list it will appear in My Word Lists.
‼️IMPORTANT - Make sure the computer microphone is turned on by going to the browser’s settings.
Click on My Word List from the left menu.
Click on the underlined title of the word list.
To record a Personal Voice for a word, click on the microphone icon to the right of the word.
To record a Personal Voice for a sentence or definition, click on the microphone to the right of the sentence or definition.
Clicking on the microphone will open the recording pop up box.
Click on the Start Recording button.
There is a short countdown before recording begins. Do not speak yet.
Note: The word you are recording is displayed at the top of the screen.
AFTER the countdown, clearly say the spelling word one time. After saying the word, click the Stop Recording button.
After you have recorded your voice, you will need to Listen to your recorded word. You then have the choice to record your voice again or save the recording. All recordings must be saved.
After recording your personal voice, the microphone icon will be replaced with a personal voice icon.
At any time, you can click on the microphone icon located to the right of a word, sentence or definition. You have the option to:
Revert the voice back to the original voice by selecting Default speech
Select personal recording
Start a new recording
Make sure to click the Save button before closing the pop up window.
