Power Spelling allows you to edit and/or personalize the sentences and definitions students hear on spelling and vocabulary games and tests.

  1. Click on My Word Lists from the left menu.

  2. Click on the underlined title of the Assignment.

  3. Click on an underlined word from the list.

Once you have clicked on a word, the word’s details box will open in the right panel.

  4. Click on the Add New Sentence button or Add New Definition button.

  5. New options for Sentences and Definitions will show in a new pop up. To edit a sentence or definition, click the Select button next to an option.

  6. You can also get new options by clicking on the Refresh Usage Options button.

  7. After selecting an option, you will be able to edit the sentence or definition, go back to previous options, get new options, or click OK to use the one shown.

The word list will now show that this word has more than one sentence or definition available.

  • Click on the Available Sentences or Available Definitions button.

  • Select the desired sentence or definition. The marked sentence or definition will be the one the students hear on games and tests.

If you have a word on your list that does not have an attached sentence or definition, you will need to add one for this word.

  • Click inside the yellow textbox, or click the Add New Sentence or Add New Definition button.
