Adding products manually

Step-by-step guide to adding a single product to your library by hand, including images, pricing, specifications, and custom fields.

This is one of three ways to add products to your account, see Add your products to Programa for the full overview, including managing products once they're added.

Getting there

Go to Products in the left-hand nav, then click Add product. A dropdown opens with three options: Add manually, Add from URL, and, under Bulk import products, Import from CSV. Select Add manually.

Upload up to four product images. The first image is marked with a star and used as the product's primary image, click a different thumbnail to make it the primary one instead. After uploading, you can crop and reposition each image: click into an uploaded image to open the crop tool, drag to reposition, use the slider to zoom in or out, then click Save.

Set the product Status: Active (visible to your whole team and available to use in quotes), Draft (only visible to Admins and Owners, not available in quotes), or Discontinued (no longer available in quotes; team members or studios with it in an active project are notified).

Fill in Product details: start with Brand, click the field to open a dropdown of brands already on your Company Profile and select one. If the brand you need isn't listed, click Add brand at the bottom to create it (upload a logo at 110 × 110px and enter the brand name). Programa checks the name against your existing brands (not case-sensitive), if it already exists you'll see "This brand already exists" and it won't create a duplicate.

Then set the Product category: this works as a cascading menu, choose a main category first (e.g. Furniture), then move your cursor to the sub-category that appears (e.g. Seating), and if a further sub-category is available, move to that to select it (e.g. Armchairs). Sub-categories and sub-sub-categories only appear where they exist for that category. Finally, fill in the product name, description, SKU, lead time, and product URL.

Fill in Pricing: RRP and the unit it's priced per (Item, Set, Meter, Square Meter, or Lineal Meter).

Fill in Specifications: dimensions (height, depth, width, length), colour, finish, and material.

Fill in Category specifications: additional fields specific to the product category you selected (e.g. seat height, fabric, cushion fill, and frame for seating).

Add any Custom specifications: your own label/value pairs for anything not covered above (e.g. warranty length, country of origin), click Add spec for each one.

Upload any supporting files under Attachments (spec sheets, certifications, etc.).

Click Add to save the product to your library.
