What is Hybrid Mode?

Hybrid mode offers a user experience similar to Classic mode, with two key differences:

  • No ProLine Voicemail: Calls that go unanswered will not be routed to a ProLine voicemail inbox. Voicemails will go to the devices voicemail that calls are being forwarded to.

  • No ‘Press 1 to Answer’ Prompt: When receiving a call from your ProLine number, you won't be prompted to press 1 to answer. This means the call may feel more like a personal call on your phone.

Important Considerations

Caller ID & Privacy

Because the call is pushed directly to your personal device, there is a chance your personal number may be exposed to the customer when you call them back. Keep this in mind if privacy is a concern.

Spam Filter Option

You can still toggle the "Require Callers to Press 1" option. This functions as a spam filter, helping block robocalls. While useful, it does introduce a small barrier for customers trying to reach you, so enable this feature thoughtfully.

Device Number

This remains the phone number associated with the device where your ProLine mobile app is installed.

Forward Inbound Calls to Another Number

  • Use Case: Useful if you want to send calls to a third-party service, after-hours agent, or remote receptionist.

  • How It Works: Enter the external number, and ProLine will forward inbound calls accordingly.

Summary

Hybrid mode is ideal if you want a classic-like call experience without voicemail but prefer fewer touch points for answering calls (no press 1). You are all right with the occasional exposure of your personal number. Lastly, if you need the ability to forward calls to an external service.

Make sure to weigh the privacy and customer experience trade-offs before switching. If you want to learn more about our other phone mode options you can find them here: Classic, Direct, Browser.
