What is Classic Mode?
Classic Mode forwards your ProLine calls to your device, with ProLine sitting in the middle to handle voicemail and mask your personal number.
When a forwarded call comes in, you'll be prompted to "press 1 to answer." If you do not press 1, the call is sent to your ProLine voicemail.
That press-1-to-answer step is the defining behavior of Classic Mode — it confirms you (a person, not voicemail) are picking up before connecting the caller. Note this is separate from the Spam Filter "Press 1" setting below, which is what your callers are asked to do. Two different prompts, two different purposes.
Why Choose Classic Mode?
Classic Mode is ProLine's most recommended phone mode for the following reasons:
Voicemail Integration: It utilizes ProLine's built-in voicemail capabilities.
Number Masking: Your personal phone number is masked, ensuring customers only see your ProLine number.
Centralized Communication: Keeps all business communication within your ProLine account, enhancing organization and professionalism.
Simplicity: Best suited for the majority of ProLine users without requiring additional setup or devices.
Other modes are available and covered in separate training videos, but Classic works best for most team scenarios.
How to Access & Enable

Key Features and Settings in Classic Mode
The settings below appear in the order you'll see them on screen.
1. Require Callers to Press "1" (Spam Filter)
Function: Prompts incoming callers to press “1” to proceed with the call.
Benefit: Significantly reduces robocalls.
Consideration: This can slightly inconvenience genuine callers, so it’s optional based on your tolerance for spam calls.
2. Auto Respond to Missed Calls
What It Does: Automatically sends a preset text message whenever someone calls your ProLine number and the call is not answered.
Why It’s Helpful: Ensures callers get an immediate response, even if you are unavailable.
Use Case Examples:.
Letting customers know you will call back shortly.
Providing alternative contact information.
Acknowledging the missed call for quick follow-up.
⚠️ Note: The auto-response is only sent when the call is truly missed. It does not trigger if the call is declined or answered by someone on your team.
3. Voicemail Greeting
What it Does: Lets you record a personalized greeting for missed calls.
Where It Applies: Used only for the specific ProLine number you assign.
Tip: Craft a clear, professional greeting to maintain your brand tone.
4. Your Device Number
This is critical for proper call routing.
What It Is: The phone number of the actual device receiving calls.
What It Is Not: Not your ProLine number.
Example: If your ProLine number is 404-999-1453, your device number could be your personal cell number (e.g., 678-555-0198), since that’s where you’re receiving the call.
This is most often the number that is attached to the cellular device you use the ProLine mobile app on.
Why It Matters: Ensures that ProLine can properly route calls to your physical device.
5. Forward Inbound Calls to a Different Number
Use Case: Useful if you want to send calls to a third-party service, after-hours agent, or remote receptionist.
How It Works: Enter the external number, and ProLine will forward inbound calls accordingly.
Important: Once this field is filled, calls ring that number instead — they will no longer ring the device ProLine is installed on.
Important Considerations
Voicemail location: Missed-call voicemails land in your ProLine voicemail, not your device's voicemail inbox — this is one of the main advantages of Classic over Hybrid and Direct modes.
Caller ID: Your personal number is masked on both inbound and outbound calls; customers only ever see your ProLine number.
The press-1-to-answer step: Remember you'll need to press 1 to connect each forwarded call. If you don't, the caller is routed to your ProLine voicemail.
Summary
Classic Mode is the go-to solution for most ProLine users. It offers a clean and professional setup that masks your personal number, integrates voicemail, and allows easy call management through your existing device. Be sure to configure the device number correctly and consider using the spam filter and call forwarding features based on your operational needs.
