What is Direct Call Mode?

Direct Call Mode forwards all incoming Proline calls to your personal or physical phone number. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Caller Exposure: Your personal number will be visible to customers since calls are being forwarded directly.

  • Voicemail Handling: Voicemails left by callers will go to your physical phone’s voicemail system, not to your Proline account.

  • Caller ID: When receiving calls, the caller ID shown will be the customer’s actual phone number, not your Proline number.

Key Features & Limitations

Useful For:

  • Office phones or any situation where you want calls ringing on a physical device.

  • Users who don’t need voicemail management within Proline.

Limitations:

  • Voicemail messages won’t be accessible within the Proline system.

  • Exposes your personal number to clients.

Additional Options in Direct Mode

Despite its simplicity, Direct Mode still includes a few helpful features:

  • Spam Call Protection: You can enable a “Press 1 to connect” filter, which blocks most robocalls since automated systems can’t interact with prompts.

  • Device Management: The Device Number refers to the phone with the Proline mobile app installed. This remains active in Direct Mode.

  • Forward Inbound Calls to Another Number

    • Use Case: Useful if you want to send calls to a third-party service, after-hours agent, or remote receptionist.

    • How It Works: Enter the external number, and ProLine will forward inbound calls accordingly.

Is Direct Mode Right for You?

Direct Mode is a practical choice if:

  • You need calls to go directly to a physical phone.

  • You’re comfortable with voicemails being stored outside of Proline.
