Why use Browser Mode?

In Browser Mode, your phone calls will ring directly through your desktop browser. This makes it especially useful for users who are stationed at a desk, such as administrators, office managers, or anyone not relying on the mobile app.

Important: The browser must remain open to receive incoming calls. If the browser is closed, calls will be sent directly to voicemail.

Key Features and Settings in Browser Mode

1. Call Screening with “Press 1” Option

  • Enable the option to require callers to press 1 before connecting.

  • This helps filter out spam and robocalls, allowing only genuine callers to get through.

2. Auto-Reject Waiting Calls

  • When this is activated, if you're already on a call and a second call comes in, it will automatically be routed to voicemail.

  • This ensures you're not interrupted and your line isn't overwhelmed.

3. Browser Call System Status

  • Click the Call System Status button to open a diagnostic panel.

  • This information is helpful if you need to contact support for troubleshooting.

4. Voicemail Greeting

  • You can upload or record a custom voicemail greeting that will play if you miss a call or if a call is auto-rejected.

Optional: Configure Your Device Number

Entering your device number in the settings enables additional flexibility:

  • You can initiate outbound calls from the mobile app, even while Browser Mode is active.

  • Calls placed using the mobile app will route through your Proline number, maintaining consistency in caller ID.

  • If this field is left blank, all outbound calls will be placed exclusively through the browser.

Note: If you rely primarily on the mobile app, Browser Mode may not suit your needs. It’s best used by those who intend to take and make most calls via the browser.

Best Practices

  • Use Browser Mode if you work in an office environment and stay at your desk.

  • Keep your browser open at all times to ensure you don’t miss incoming calls.

  • Customize your voicemail and spam settings for a more controlled experience.

  • Only use the mobile app for outbound calls if you've entered your device number.

Summary

The Browser Call System Mode is a powerful tool for desktop-first workflows. By configuring it properly, you ensure better call handling, reduced spam, and improved responsiveness without relying on a mobile device.
