If your popup appears later than expected, follow the steps below to identify and resolve the cause.
Common causes
Trigger delay setting — Most templates default to a 10-second "Time on site" delay, which is the most common reason popups do not appear immediately.
Slow site loading — Promolayer loads asynchronously after the rest of your page. If your site itself is slow to load, the popup will appear slow as a result.
Steps
Check the trigger delay setting. In the Display editor, go to Rules > Time on site longer than and check whether a delay is set. Most templates default to 10 seconds. Reduce or remove this value to make the popup appear sooner.
If the trigger is already set to "Show immediately", check your site loading speed. Promolayer uses async/defer loading — it intentionally loads after the rest of your page to avoid impacting your site's performance. If your site takes several seconds to load, Promolayer will appear after that delay.
To test whether your site speed is the cause, try visiting your site on a fast network connection or use a tool such as Google PageSpeed Insights to check overall load time.
Confirm that caching or a CDN is not serving a stale version of your site. If you recently changed trigger settings, clear your site cache and test again in an incognito window.
