Welcome to the Proofig Submit Page. Here, you will upload your manuscript for analysis. This guide will walk you through the process of submitting your article, filling in the necessary details, and starting the analysis.

To begin, upload your manuscript as a PDF or Word (.doc / .docx) file by dragging it into the upload area or clicking to select the file from your computer. Word files are uploaded the same way as PDFs.

You can also upload image files such as JPEG, PNG, or TIFF, which the system will convert to a PDF for analysis.

You can also use LabArchives as your image source instead of uploading a local file. On the Submit page, choose LabArchives, then connect your notebook and select the page you want to analyze.

You can upload up to 8 manuscripts at once. Each manuscript is analyzed separately and produces its own report.

Manuscripts uploaded together are not compared against each other. Proofig AI does not check for duplication between separate manuscripts, so uploading several at once is a way to process them in one batch, not a cross-manuscript comparison.

After submitting the manuscript, you can choose whether to review the detected sub-images before continuing or proceed directly to the review stage.

Before proceeding, please acknowledge that you are authorized to submit this manuscript for review by checking the appropriate box.

Under the authorisation checkbox is a row headed Graphs and charts, with one option: Exclude graphs, charts, diagrams and plots from this analysis.

Proofig AI detects graphs, charts, diagrams and plots automatically and analyses them with the rest of your figures. Tick this box if you would rather leave them out. The choice covers every manuscript in this upload, and the line under the box reads This cannot be changed after submission. Panels you select manually are always analyzed.

The box starts empty on every submission, so excluding graphs is a choice you make each time.

If the option is not available to you, its label is greyed out and ticking the box has no effect; the line under it reads This option is turned off for your organization. Contact your administrator to enable it. Your administrator can switch it on in Settings, under Analysis Config. The Submit page reads the setting when it loads, so reload the page after it has been changed.

Excluding graphs applies only to panels Proofig AI detects by itself. Anything you mark by hand on the Select view page is analysed as usual, so if you excluded graphs but want one of them checked after all, mark it by hand there.

A page that held nothing but graphs will have no sub-images on it, so choose All pages to find it. If the whole manuscript was graphs, the page says so, adding It also happens when a manuscript contains only graphs, charts, diagrams and plots, which you chose to exclude at submission.

Your report records the choice: a note under the summary reads Automatically detected graphs, charts, diagrams and plots were excluded from this analysis at submission. Subimages selected manually were analyzed. The note is part of the printed report as well as the screen, so an editor reading the PDF can see it too.

You can fill in these details to help you identify your manuscript later: the title, review stage, identifier, journal, authors, and any notes. These fields are optional but can provide more context for future reference.

Once all necessary details are filled in, click the 'Submit' button at the top of the page to start the analysis process.

Your article will now be processed. The system will automatically detect the images in the uploaded manuscript, including microscopy images and blots as well as graphs, charts, diagrams, and plots, unless you chose to exclude them at submission. After the analysis, you will be automatically redirected to the sub-image review page, which is the next step in the workflow.
