Pitching Opportunities on Qwoted is the most proactive way to secure media coverage for you or your clients. Why pitch in the Qwoted platform?

Thousands of reporters, producers, and writers from top publications use Qwoted in their writing process to find expert commentary. Qwoted connects them with this expertise in a few ways, one being our Requests feature. Here’s an article that explains more about how Qwoted’s Request feature works.

Unlocking Opportunities on Qwoted

After reviewing the details of a source request on Qwoted and deciding that it’s relevant to you or your client, you must “unlock” the opportunity. Unlocking an opportunity will require you to spend a pitch credit. Unlocking will also allow you to view the identity of the Media user who submitted the Opportunity. By design, we provide all of the details you need to make the decision to pitch the opportunity upfront, outside of the reporter's name (the publication, what expertise the reporter needs, etc. are all provided before unlocking). Therefore, we recommend not unlocking an Opportunity unless you intend to pitch it. Reporters enjoy using Qwoted because of the control it enables them over incoming messages (i.e. it helps them to avoid "PR Spam"). The reporter's name is hidden behind the “Unlock” process to help facilitate this control.

You’ll be able to see how many pitches you have remaining for the month when deciding whether to unlock the opportunity. If you’d prefer a bigger bank of pitches, check out this link to view our paid plan options.

You cannot unlock multiple opportunities without submitting a pitch.

If you unlock multiple opportunities in a row without completing/submitting a pitch, our system can identify this behavior as potential scraping of reporter contact information, which can trigger a disablement. Learn more in our Community Guidelines.

Types of Opportunities in Qwoted

1. Expert Request

Description:

This is the most common opportunity submitted on Qwoted. This is a general call for expertise around a certain topic. Such expertise will often be displayed online and/or in print.

Here’s how to pitch it:

If your profile is configured correctly (as a PR professional or as an Expert Source), you’ll receive real-time email alerts about these relevant opportunities, which will direct you into the Qwoted platform where you can submit your pitch.

You can also check out our Opportunity section at the top of your Qwoted dashboard:

Find a Request that pertains to you or your client’s expertise. The publication/medium, deadline, and the type of expertise required are all visible when initially viewing the Request.

When you’re ready to submit, click “Unlock & Pitch” to use one of your monthly credits and pitch the request.

After agreeing to our secondary popup warning, you’ll be presented with the available profiles that you can attach to your pitch. Select the “Expert” options to be presented with your existing spokesperson profiles.

If you haven’t had a chance to create any Source profiles yet, no fear, you can click the “Add a New Expert” button to create one on the fly. You can always finish configuring the profile later.

Clicking on the Source profile that you have pitched before will bring up previous pitch templates that you have used, so you don’t have to start from scratch.

You can attach files such as whitepapers, certifications, and other documentation to support your pitch if needed.

Hit submit! Your pitch will be delivered instantly to the Reporter’s Qwoted inbox, which they’ll be notified about in real-time via an email alert.

Once you’ve submitted, be sure to check out the post-pitch page and requests feed for other relevant opportunities to pitch.

2. Product Request

Description:

A new option if you're looking to promote Products, these opportunities are specific to a Product or brand you want to promote!

Here’s how to pitch it:

You would pitch a Product request in a similar manner as an Expert Request, just be sure to select Add New, then select Product, when pitching and include all information and criteria requested by the Media user.

3. Guest Request

Description:

Guest Requests are submitted specifically to source guests for Video/Broadcast, and/or Radio/Podcast segments. These types of opportunities allow you to expand your press experience into other mediums.

Here’s how to pitch it:

Guest requests can have a few more components than an Expert Request, so be sure to read carefully and provide all requested information. Don’t forget to mention any previous experience you might have with Video/Broadcast, or Radio/Podcast opportunities.

These opportunities will be delivered to you in real-time, but you can always head over to Advanced Search of Qwoted’s Request page and utilize the filtering options to select the opportunity type you are looking for.

4. Speaker Request

Description:

If you're looking to expand your speaking experience and skills, opportunities like these would be great to pitch!

Here’s how to pitch it:

You would pitch a speaker request in a similar manner as an Expert Request, just be sure to include all information and criteria requested by the Media user.

‘Qwick’ Tips

  • Need to edit your pitch? This can be done within 24 hours of your pitch submission. Here’s an article explaining how to do it.

  • Want to see your past pitches? You can view any previously submitted or draft pitches, by clicking “My Pitches” at the top of your Qwoted Dashboard.

  • Need some guidance around pitching? Read up on best practices for pitching requests, like what to include in a pitch, ideal pitch length, and more. Check out our blog for additional tips and tricks.

  • Explore our paid plans to identify opportunities that are easiest to convert by accessing more data and insights, such as the number of pitches submitted, and whether the reporter has read or replied to any messages.

Other things to keep in mind when pitching opportunities:

  • Utilize the Advanced Search feature to be as detailed as possible when looking for a request of your liking to pitch.

  • An opportunity can only be submitted to one time, meaning you can not follow up with the submitter of the post until that Media user replies to you.

  • Have multiple clients you want to submit to the same Opportunity? Currently, Qwoted only allows you to attach one Source profile to a pitch. A workaround for this would be to mention the second Source in the body of your pitch, and if the Media user replies to your pitch, more information can be shared.
