How do I filter and manage Pledges?

Learn how to view and manage Pledges in Raise More to efficiently project incoming funds, plan outreach, follow up on unfulfilled promises

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Raise More provides a focused space for tracking and managing all donor pledges, giving you a clear overview of all promised contributions. A pledge is a donor’s commitment to give a specific amount in the future, which may or may not have been fulfilled yet. Tracking these commitments helps organizations project incoming funds, plan outreach, and follow up on unfulfilled promises.

Getting to Pledges is simple. Just click Pledges in the left pane, which opens a list of all pledges and provides options to manage and filter them. The page displays each entry along with key details, making it easier to monitor progress and follow through on fundraising goals. Each pledge is represented by a row, while columns provide important information about each pledge.

Overview

The Pledges main window displays a list of all recorded pledges along with key details such as donor names, amounts, and dates. It provides options to filter and sort the records, making it easier to review and manage outstanding commitments. The layout is designed to give you a quick snapshot of current and past pledges in one place.

The top right section of the Pledges window displays the total amounts for both outstanding and fulfilled pledges, giving you a quick view of how much has been promised and how much has already been received. Just below that, you’ll find a list of all pledges, organized with key details as follows:

  • First Name

  • Last Name

  • Pledge Created Date

  • Amount

  • Fulfilled (shows current pledge status i.e. fulfilled or unfulfilled, the three dots option button allows you to mark pledges to outstanding/fulfilled)

  • Date Fulfilled (when a pledge was marked as fulfilled)

  • Hard or Soft (explained below)

  • Edit (three dot option button allows you to edit or delete a pledge as well as mark it as outstanding/fulfilled)

Raise More clearly separates “hard pledges” from “soft pledges” to help you manage them more effectively. A hard pledge is a firm commitment from the donor, often accompanied by a specific payment schedule or deadline. In contrast, a soft pledge reflects an expected contribution that may have been discussed or suggested but not formally confirmed—such as a verbal promise or a pledge made through a third party.

A hard pledge is shown in blue color with a light blue background, while soft pledges are shown with a light orange background for easy identification.

How to filter Pledges?

Raise More allows you to easily filter pledges using different primary and secondary filters, making it simpler to manage and prioritize ongoing commitments. This feature helps teams narrow down the list to focus on specific pledge types, dates, statuses, or amounts.

By filtering pledges, you can quickly identify which commitments are outstanding, recently fulfilled, or approaching their due dates. This focused view is especially useful when coordinating follow-ups or preparing for reporting, ensuring that attention is given to the most urgent or impactful entries without having to sort through the entire list manually. Refer to the steps below to filter pledges:

1. Click the blue Filter button at the top right to open filter options and then click Narrow records.

2. Select the primary filter from the first drop-down menu. Primary filters include:

  • Amount

  • Fulfilled or Outstanding?

  • Fulfilled Date

  • Pledge to Give By

  • Hard or Soft commitment

  • Created At

  • Full Name

  • First Name

  • Last Name

  • Email

  • Phone Number

3. Select the secondary filter, which gives you the flexibility to accurately filter the required pledges and allows you to further narrow down records. Secondary filter fields depend on the selected primary filter. For example, selecting Amount as a primary filter will give you secondary filters like “equal to” or “less than”, while filters like Created At will give you secondary filters like “on” or “before”.

4. You can enter your search query in the third filter field, which also depends on the first two fields. For example, if you have selected “Fulfilled Date” and “on” in the first two fields, the third field will allow you to select a date. Similarly, if you have selected “Hard or Soft Commitment” and “is” in the first two fields, the third field will have two check boxes i.e. “Hard commitment” and “Soft commitment”.

These filtering options provide an intuitive and efficient way to locate specific pledges without having to sift through large lists manually. This streamlined process saves time and helps you stay organized, allowing teams to focus on managing and following up with important commitments more effectively.
