Why is my domain showing as not verified?

What the Verified Emails statuses mean, why a domain shows as not verified, and how to add the SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records to fix it.

Before Raise More can send email for you, you have to prove you control the domain you send from (the part after the @, like yourcampaignforcongress.com). Until that is done, the email address shows a status of Action required on the Verified Emails page, and you can't send from it. In almost every case the cause is that the required DNS records aren't in place yet, or they were added but haven't been confirmed. This article explains what the check looks for, what the statuses mean, the common reasons it fails, and how to fix it.

What the statuses mean

On Settings → Verified Emails, each email address shows one of three statuses:

  • Action required (red): the domain isn't verified yet. The DNS records still need to be added, or they've been added but Raise More hasn't confirmed them. A Finish Verification button appears next to addresses in this state.

  • In progress (yellow): the DNS records have been submitted through the setup tool and we're waiting on confirmation. This can take a little time while the change spreads across the internet.

  • Verified (green): the domain is confirmed and you can send from any address on it.

What domain verification checks for

Verification is how mailbox providers (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo) confirm that email claiming to come from your domain is actually authorized by you. Getting it right protects your sending reputation and keeps your messages out of spam folders. It relies on three kinds of DNS records:

  • SPF is a record that lists which mail servers are allowed to send email for your domain.

  • DKIM adds a signature to each message that proves the message really came from your domain and wasn't changed in transit.

  • DMARC tells receiving mail servers what to do with messages that fail the SPF or DKIM checks.

Raise More uses Entri, an embedded DNS setup tool, to add these records to your domain. When you click Finish Verification, the Entri window opens and walks you through it. Once the records are confirmed, the address flips to Verified, and from then on you can add more sending addresses on the same domain instantly, with no extra DNS work.

Common reasons it shows as not verified

If an address still shows Action required, one of these is usually why:

  • The DNS records haven't been added yet. Verification can't finish until the SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records exist on your domain. If you started the process but didn't complete the Entri window, the records were never added.

  • The records are still spreading across the internet. DNS changes are not instant. They usually take effect within a few minutes to a couple of hours, but can take up to 48 hours to be visible everywhere.

  • The records were added incorrectly. A typo, a missing value, or an extra space in a record's name or value will cause the check to fail. This is most common when records are typed in by hand instead of copied and pasted.

  • The records were added at the wrong DNS provider. Records have to live wherever your domain's DNS is actually hosted (your registrar, or a service like Cloudflare or GoDaddy), not somewhere else.

  • A conflicting record already exists. If you already have an older SPF or DMARC record, a second one can conflict. A domain is allowed only one SPF record, so two will break the check.

  • The records were added but not yet confirmed. Even when everything is correct, the system has to re-check before it marks the address verified. Reopening the Verified Emails page or clicking Finish Verification triggers that re-check.

How to fix it

  1. Go to Settings → Verified Emails. To finish an address that's already started, find the one marked Action required and click Finish Verification. To start a new one, click Add New Verified Email, enter the email address and sender name, and click Add.

  2. When the Entri window opens, follow the steps it shows. If Entri recognizes your DNS provider, it can sign you in and add the SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records for you. If your provider isn't supported, Entri shows the exact records to copy and paste into your DNS settings.

  3. If you're adding the records by hand, copy and paste each record's name and value exactly as shown. Don't retype them, and watch for extra spaces.

  4. Make sure you're adding the records at the provider that actually hosts your domain's DNS. If you're not sure where that is, check where your domain's nameservers point.

  5. Give the change time to take effect, then reopen the Verified Emails page (or click Finish Verification again) to re-check. Once the records are live and confirmed, the status changes to Verified.

A note on free mailboxes: you can't verify gmail.com, yahoo.com, or hotmail.com addresses, because you don't control those domains. Use an email address on a domain you own, such as info@yourcampaignforcongress.com.

How long it takes

Most domains verify within a few minutes to a couple of hours after the records are added. In some cases it takes up to 48 hours for the DNS change to be visible everywhere. If you've added the records correctly and the address still shows Action required after that window, the cause is usually a typo, a conflicting record, or records added at the wrong provider.

FAQ

I added the records but it still shows Action required. Why?
Most likely the DNS change is still spreading, or one of the records has a small error. Re-check the values against what Entri shows, then try the re-check again after some time has passed.

Do I have to verify every email address separately?
No. Once a domain is verified, every address on that domain (for example info@, donate@, team@) is ready to send right away.

Will verifying change where I receive email?
No. These DNS records only authorize outgoing email. They don't change where your incoming email is delivered.

I don't manage my own DNS. What do I do?
Send the records from the Entri window to whoever manages your domain's DNS, or contact our support team and we'll help.
