Why can't I select a sender for my email campaign?

The Select a Sender dropdown only lists verified emails. Set up and verify a sending domain on the Verified Emails page to enable senders.

When you build an email campaign, the From step lets you choose which email address the campaign will be sent from. You open it with the Edit Sender button, and pick an address from the Select a Sender dropdown. If that dropdown is empty or has nothing useful to pick, it is almost always because you do not yet have a verified sending email set up.

The Select a Sender dropdown only offers verified emails. An email address has to be confirmed as one you actually control before Raise More will let you send from it. This is a spam-compliance requirement. Mailbox providers like Gmail and Outlook reject or junk mail that comes from unverified domains, so we block sending from an address until its domain is verified.

Why the sender list is empty or locked

There are three common situations:

  1. You have not added any verified email yet. If no email has been set up, the Select a Sender dropdown has nothing to show.

  2. You added an email, but it is still being verified. The email shows a status of "In progress" while the DNS records for your domain are being checked, or "Action required" if the DNS setup has not been completed. Emails in either of those states are not selectable as a sender.

  3. The only emails available use a free provider. Addresses ending in gmail.com, hotmail.com, or yahoo.com are not supported for sending. You need an email on a domain you control, such as info@yourcampaignforcongress.com.

A sender becomes selectable only once its status reads "Verified."

How senders become available

To get a selectable sender, you verify ownership of the domain (the part after the @, like yourcampaignforcongress.com). You only have to verify a domain once. After that, you can add as many emails on that same domain as you want, and they go through instantly without repeating the DNS step.

Verification works by adding a few DNS records (the standard email-authentication records: DKIM, SPF, and DMARC) to your domain. Raise More uses a guided verification tool that can add these records for you automatically with many domain hosts, or give you the exact records to add by hand.

You manage all of this on the Verified Emails page, found under Settings.

Step-by-step: add and verify a sender

  1. Go to Settings, then open Verified Emails.

  2. Click Add New Verified Email.

  3. Enter the email address you want to send from (on a domain you control, not a free provider) and the sender name that recipients will see.

  4. Click Add.

  5. One of two things happens:

    • If your domain is already verified, the email is created and ready to use right away.

    • If the domain still needs verification, you will be prompted to finish setup. The new email appears in the list with a status of "In progress" or "Action required."

  6. For an email that needs setup, click Finish Verification and follow the guided steps to add the DNS records to your domain. You can let the tool add them automatically where supported, or copy them into your domain host yourself.

  7. Wait for the records to take effect. DNS changes can be near-instant but sometimes take a while to propagate. The status updates to "Verified" once the records are confirmed.

Once an email shows Verified, return to your email campaign. Open the From step with Edit Sender and your verified email will now appear in the Select a Sender dropdown. You can also reach the setup directly from the campaign: the Select a Sender dropdown includes an Add verified email… option that opens the Verified Emails page in a new tab.

What the status labels mean

  • Verified (green): The email is confirmed and can be selected as a sender.

  • In progress (yellow): The DNS records have been submitted and are being checked. Not yet selectable.

  • Action required (red): Verification has not been completed. Click Finish Verification to add or correct the DNS records.

FAQ

Can I send from my Gmail or Yahoo address?

No. Free-provider addresses (gmail.com, hotmail.com, yahoo.com) are not supported for sending. Use an email on a domain you own.

I added my email but it still says "In progress." What now?

The DNS records are still being verified. This can take some time to propagate. If it stays in progress for an extended period, open the email and click Finish Verification to confirm the records were added correctly to your domain.

I have several team members. Do they each need to verify the domain?

No. Once the domain is verified for your organization, anyone can add additional emails on that same domain and they become usable immediately.

My email shows "Action required." Why?

The required DNS records have not been completed for your domain. Click Finish Verification and follow the steps to add them, either automatically through the guided tool or by adding them to your domain host yourself.

Where do I set a default sender?

On the Verified Emails page, find the verified email you want, then click Make Default in its row. That email then shows Current default and is used as the default sending identity.
