What you will see
When you delete a caller ID, Raise More first shows a confirmation:
Are you sure you want to delete this caller ID? This action is irreversible and will release the phone number.
If the number you are deleting is your only voice-capable number, the deletion is rejected and you get this message:
You must keep at least one voice-capable number for the dialer. Please add another number before deleting this one.
The number is not deleted. Nothing about your dialer changes.
Why the rule exists
The dialer needs a verified, voice-capable caller ID to place outbound calls. That number is what donors see on their phone, and it is the number carriers have approved for placing calls on your behalf. If you deleted your only voice-capable number, the dialer would have no approved number to call from and call sessions would stop being able to dial.
Rather than let one deletion break calling for your whole organization, Raise More keeps at least one voice-capable number in place. As soon as you have a second verified voice-capable number, you can delete any of the others.
Other deletion guardrails
The voice-capable rule is one of four checks Raise More runs before deleting a caller ID. You may hit a different message depending on the number:
Last caller ID of any kind: "You must have at least one caller ID. Please add another before deleting this one."
Last virtual (Raise More provided) number: "You must keep at least one virtual phone number. Please add another virtual number before deleting this one."
Last voice-capable number: "You must keep at least one voice-capable number for the dialer. Please add another number before deleting this one."
Last texting-capable (10DLC-approved) number: "You must keep at least one texting-capable number. Please add another texting-capable number before deleting this one."
Each check only fires when the number you are deleting is the last one of that type. If you have more than one of a given type, that check does not apply.
How to remove a number you don't want
Add a replacement, get it verified, then delete the old number.
Go to the Caller ID page.
Click New Caller ID.
Add a number. You have two options:
Create a new caller ID, which gives you a virtual phone number from a chosen area code.
Verify an existing number you already own. Raise More places a verification call to that number. Answer it and enter the validation code shown on screen.
Wait for the new number to show as verified and voice-capable. Once it is confirmed, your organization has more than one voice-capable caller ID.
Return to the Caller ID page and delete the old number.
With a verified voice-capable replacement in place, the guardrail no longer applies and the deletion goes through. There is no gap where calling is unavailable.
If all you want is to change the number donors see, you do not have to delete anything. Add and verify the new caller ID, then set it as your default. The old number can stay as a backup.
FAQ
Can I delete a caller ID if I have more than one?
Yes. The voice-capable block only fires when the number you are deleting is your last voice-capable one. With two or more verified voice-capable numbers, you can delete any of them.
I only use texting, not calling. Does this still apply?
The voice-capable check only fires when the number you are deleting supports voice. There is a separate check for your last texting-capable (10DLC-approved) number. A single number can support voice, texting, or both, so deleting the wrong one can strand a channel. If you are unsure which number does what, contact support before deleting.
I added a new number but still can't delete the old one.
Confirm the new number finished verification and shows as voice-capable. Until the replacement is fully verified, it does not count, and the old number is still treated as your last voice-capable caller ID.
Can I change the number donors see without deleting anything?
Yes. Add and verify the new caller ID, then set it as your default dialing number. You can keep or remove the old one later.
I still can't delete a number after adding a verified replacement.
Contact support from inside Raise More. A number can occasionally drift out of sync with the carrier, and the team can re-check its status.
