Raise More tracks where a donation came from using Donation Source tags. There is no single fixed "source" or "processor" field on a donation. Instead, you build your own list of source labels (for example ActBlue, Stripe, Check, Event, Direct Mail) and apply them to donations. You can then filter and report on those tags.
This article covers how to set up your source labels, apply them, and filter by them.
What is and isn't automatic
A few things to know before you start:
Donations that come in through your ActBlue integration are recorded automatically, but Raise More does not auto-apply a Donation Source tag to them. You apply the tag yourself, or filter on other ActBlue fields like AB Refcode or Recipient Committee.
Donations imported from a spreadsheet do not get a Donation Source tag applied during import. You add the tag after the donation is in Raise More.
Donation Source tags are something you tag manually, so they are as accurate as the labels you apply.
Step 1: Create your Donation Source tags
In the left sidebar, click Donations, then click Donation Tags in the sub-menu.
Click Create.
Type a tag name, for example
ActBlue,Stripe, orCheck.Click Create to save it.
Repeat for each source you want to track.
Nested (child) tags
Donation Source tags can be nested. Each tag can have child tags under it, so you can group related sources. For example, you could have a top-level Online tag with child tags ActBlue and Stripe under it.
To add a child tag, find the parent tag row in the Donation Tags table and click the plus (add) icon button on that row. The dialog is titled "Create New Child Tag for [parent name]". Type the child tag name and click Create.
Tag names must be unique. If you try to create a tag with a name that already exists, you will see "A tag with this name already exists".
Step 2: Apply a source tag to a donation
You can apply Donation Source tags when you add a donation or to an existing one.
When adding a new donation
On the Donations page, click New donation.
Choose the contact, enter the Amount (USD) and Date, and fill in any other fields you need.
In the Tags field, select one or more Donation Source tags.
Click Add Donation.
To an existing donation
On the Donations page (or the donation list on a contact's profile), find the donation.
Click the actions icon on the donation row and click Manage Tags.
In the Manage Tags dialog, select or deselect the source tags.
Click Save.
You can also click Edit on a donation to open the donation form, which includes the same Tags field.
Step 3: Filter and report on donations by source
Once your donations are tagged, use the filter builder on the Donations page to pull them by source.
Go to the Donations page.
Open the filter builder.
Add a rule using the field Donation Source (listed under the "Donation" group).
Choose how to match:
contains all of matches donations that carry every tag you select.
contains any of / has any of match donations that carry at least one of the tags you select.
Select the source tag or tags.
Apply the filter to see the matching donations.
The donations table also has a Tags column that shows the source tags applied to each donation, so you can scan sources directly in the grid.
The running total at the bottom of the table reflects the filtered donations, so you can read the amount given through each source at a glance.
Tracking ActBlue donations without a tag
ActBlue donations carry fields you can filter on even if you have not tagged them:
AB Refcode (the reference code from ActBlue). Filter on the Ref Code field.
Recipient Committee. Filter on the Recipient Committee field.
Fundraising Page.
These live under the "Donations to your committee" group in the filter builder. They are useful when you want to slice ActBlue donations by the form or refcode they came through.
Tracking checks
There is no separate "check" donation type. To track checks, create a Donation Source tag named Check and apply it to those donations. The donation form does not expose a check number field, so record check details in the donation notes or other available fields as needed.
Recurring donations
Recurring donations are not a source, but you can filter for them. In the filter builder, use the Is Recurring? field with Is a recurring contribution or Is not recurring.
