Raise More lets you put tags on donations so you can group and filter them for reporting. Tagging is done one donation at a time. There is no single button that tags many donations at once. This article explains how donation tags work, how to set them up, how to tag each donation, and how to filter and report by tag.
What donation tags are
Donation tags in Raise More are called Donation Tags (the underlying field is labeled "Donation Source" in the filter builder, and the column in the Donations table is labeled "Tags").
Donation tags are organized as a tree. A tag can have child tags nested under it, so you can build categories like an event name with sub-tags under it.
These tags are separate from contact tags. Contact tags live on a person. Donation tags live on individual donation records.
Step 1: Create the tags you want to use
In the left navigation, open Donations, then click Donation Tags. This opens the Donation Tags page at
/donations/tags.Click Create at the top of the page.
In the Create Donation Tag window, type the tag name in the Tag name field.
Click Create.
To make a nested (child) tag, find the parent tag in the list, click the plus icon next to it, name the child tag, and click Create. The window title will say Create New Child Tag for [parent name].
If you try to create a tag with a name that already exists, you will see the message "A tag with this name already exists."
Step 2: Tag each donation
You apply tags to a donation from the donation's actions menu. You can do this from the Donations table or from a contact's profile.
Open Donations from the left navigation to see the Donations table, or open a contact's profile and find the donation in their donation history.
Find the donation you want to tag.
Open the actions for that row (the three-dot menu, or the inline action icons in the table).
Click Manage Tags.
In the Manage Tags window, select the tags you want to apply from the tree of available tags. You can select more than one. Clearing a selected tag removes it from that donation.
Click Save.
Repeat this for each donation you want to tag. There is no bulk "tag all selected donations" action, so a batch is handled by tagging each donation in turn.
Step 3: Filter and report by tag
Once donations are tagged, you can filter the Donations table by tag to pull a report.
Open Donations from the left navigation.
Open the filter builder and add a rule on the Donation Source field (this is the donation tag field).
Choose the tags you want and apply the filter. The table will show only donations carrying those tags.
The Tags column in the table shows the tags on each donation, separated by commas.
From there you can sort the table and adjust which columns are shown. The running total at the bottom of the page reflects the filtered donations. Click it to switch between sum, average, minimum, and maximum.
A faster way to handle a batch
Because tags are applied per donation, the practical approach for a large group is:
Decide on your tag names first and create them on the Donation Tags page before you start.
Filter the Donations table down to the donations you want to tag so they are easy to find in one view.
Work through the list, opening Manage Tags on each donation and applying the same tag.
If you regularly need to apply the same tag to a large set of donations at import or entry time, contact Raise More support to talk through the best setup for your reporting.
