How do I build a call list for a specific area code or ZIP?

You can filter your contacts by ZIP code, city, state, or timezone directly in the filter builder, then save the results as a list for the dialer. Area code is not a dedicated filter field, but you can approximate it using the Phone Number field with a "begins with" operator.

Filter by ZIP code

  1. Go to People (or open any saved search).

  2. Open the filter builder and add a rule.

  3. Under the Addresses group, select Zip.

  4. The default operator is contains. Type your ZIP code (e.g. 20001).

  5. To match multiple ZIP codes, add additional Zip rules combined with OR.

Filter by city or state

  • For city: add a rule, select City under Addresses, operator contains, type the city name.

  • For state: add a rule, select State under Addresses. The field uses a multi-select picker with a list of US state abbreviations. Select one or more states and the operator defaults to is.

Filter by timezone

If you want to target contacts by calling window rather than exact geography, add a Timezone rule under Addresses. Options are Eastern Time, Central Time, Mountain Time, Pacific Time, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and International Zip Codes. The available operators are is, is known, and is not, and is known.

Approximate area code filtering

There is no dedicated area code field. To approximate it, add a rule under the Contact group, select Phone Number, and set the operator to begins with. Type the area code (e.g. 202). This matches any phone number string that starts with that prefix.

Note: phone numbers are stored as 10-digit strings with the country code and leading zeros stripped (e.g. a US number imports as 2025551234). Enter just the 3-digit area code, not 1 followed by the area code. If results look unexpected, open a contact profile and check how the number appears in the contact's raw data.

Combine filters

Use AND to narrow results (e.g. State is VA AND City contains Alexandria) or OR to broaden them (e.g. Zip contains 22301 OR Zip contains 22302). You can mix address and phone filters in the same filter set.

Save as a list for the dialer

Once your filter returns the contacts you want:

  1. Click Save (the save button above the table).

  2. Give the list a name.

  3. Select List as the save type. This creates a static snapshot of the contacts matching your filter at the time you save. The dialer works from this fixed set.

  4. Optionally configure sort order before saving.

  5. Click Save.

The list appears in your saved lists and can be selected when starting a dialer session.

If you want the list to stay current as contacts are added or updated, select Saved search instead. A saved search re-runs the filter every time it is opened, so new contacts matching your criteria will appear automatically. However, the dialer requires a static list (saved as List), not a saved search.
