Are you concerned about visitors accidentally exiting the Receptful app and running willy-nilly through your device? Guided Access is an Apple feature that uses a passcode to lock your iPad into a single app, ensuring that visitors can't close the Receptful app or accidentally access any account settings.

This article will walk through how to use Guided Access with Receptful, but if you want to see Apple's documentation on this feature, you can view it here.

Turning on Guided Access

  1. If the Receptful app is opened, close it.

  2. Go to Settings > Accessibility, then turn on Guided Access.

  3. Tap Passcode Settings, then tap Set Guided Access Passcode. Make sure to record the passcode somewhere secure; The Receptionist has no access to that data, and if it's lost, we will not be able to assist.

  4. Enter a passcode, then re-enter it. From here, you can also turn on Face ID or Touch ID to end a Guided Access session.

  5. Make sure to set your auto-lock settings to "never."

Then, open the Receptful app and triple-click the Home (or equivalent) button to begin your Guided Access session.

If you need to exit Guided Access mode, you can triple-click the Home button again. You will be prompted to enter the passcode you set up in step 3, and then Guided Access will be turned off.

Autonomous Single-App Modes

Receptful can additionally support autonomous single-app modes (such as JAMF, PRO, MDM, or ASAM). Press and hold the top middle of the screen for a few seconds to get to the secret settings menu:

Within that area, you'll see a button titled "Guided Access." Tapping on it will enable ASAM.
