How to enter your name correctly

Tips for filling in your first, middle, and last name (and suffix) so it matches your ID.

The name on your application should match the name on your government-issued ID. Here's how to handle the common cases.

If you have a middle name

Enter your middle name as it appears on your ID. If you have multiple middle names, enter them all in the middle name field.

If you don't have a middle name

Check the option that says you have no middle name. The middle name field will become optional.

If you have a suffix

Pick your suffix from the dropdown β€” Jr., Sr., II, III, IV, etc. If you don't have one, leave it as the default.

If your name has special characters

Enter your name with the characters as they appear on your ID β€” including hyphens (-), apostrophes ('), and accent marks (Γ©, Γ±, etc.).

If your legal name is different from what you go by

Always use the legal name on your government-issued ID. The screening checks rely on the official record, so a nickname or preferred name won't match.
