Adding Occupants

How to list adult and minor occupants, what info you'll need, and what they're screened for.

An occupant is someone who will be living with you but isn't on the lease for rent. Most often, that's a child, dependent family member, or roommate.

What you'll enter for each occupant

  • First, middle, and last name — middle name can be skipped with the "no middle name" option

  • Date of birth

  • Relationship to you

  • SSN/ITIN — only required if they're 18 or older. The same certification checkbox is available if they haven't been issued one.

  • Email address — required for adult occupants on most properties

Adult occupants (18 or older)

Adult occupants get their own invitation by email to complete a short application. They go through identity verification and a criminal background check — but not income, credit, or eviction screening, since they aren't on the lease for rent.

Minor occupants (under 18)

Minor occupants don't get their own invitation. They're added to the application based on the info you provide, with no separate screening run on them.

Listing children

Yes — list children who will be living with you as occupants. Their date of birth tells the system whether they're a minor or adult, and minors are handled automatically without their own application.

Adding more than one

You can add as many occupants as you have. Each one is added separately.
