Overview
If a Codebox lockbox displays “Entry Error” when entering a generated code, the error means the device rejected the code.
Common causes
1. Date mismatch
The lockbox’s internal date and time are different from the real date.
For example, you may generate today’s code but the lockbox thinks it’s an earlier or later date.
2. Wrong serial number on property
The lockbox at the property doesn’t match the serial number listed for that property in Lockboxes in RentEngine.
3. Code generated for a different date
If the code was generated for a day other than today, the lockbox will reject it.
How to fix “Entry Error”
1. Confirm the lockbox's date and time
You must enter the Admin/Agent code on the physical Codebox to update settings.
(This cannot be done remotely.)
Enter your 6-digit Admin/Agent code and press ENTER.
Wait for the lockbox to display the current date/time.
When the screen shows Select CMD:, press ENTER to update the date.
Enter the current date in MM/DD/YY format and press ENTER.
Enter the correct time and press ENTER.
Set daylight savings to “1/on” if applicable and press ENTER.
Exit the settings screen when done.
Tip: At any Select CMD screen, pressing 0 returns to the blank screen. Pressing 0 while entering numbers inserts a zero instead of exiting.
2. Confirm the serial number in RentEngine
Go to the Lockboxes tab in RentEngine.
Verify the serial number assigned to the property matches the device at the property.
If it doesn’t match, update the property to use the correct lockbox.
3. Generate a code for today
Make sure the code you generated was created for today’s date. Even a code generated earlier in the week will not work if used on a different date.
