What is family support?

What family support is and how a family member's savings can support your application.

Written by Joe Wigoder

Family support lets you use savings held by one or more family members to help show you can afford the rent. It's a common route for students, recent graduates and people who've just moved to the UK.

How it works

When you apply, you add the family members who are supporting you. They provide their bank statements and a copy of their ID, and we include their savings in our assessment alongside anything of your own.

Is my family member my guarantor?

No. Rentmigo is your guarantor. Your family member doesn't sign any agreement and isn't responsible for paying your rent. Their bank statements are simply used to support your application.

Can I use more than one family member?

Yes. You can combine savings from several family members, and combine family support with your own income or savings.

Do I have to use family support?

No. Many people apply using only their own income or savings. Family support is there if it helps.
