Overview
Text Messaging in the MedCommerce Engine lets you send SMS messages to patients who have opted in to your practice’s text program. Use it for promotions, event reminders, and timely announcements.
This article is for practice owners, managers, and marketing staff who send manual (non-automated) text campaigns.
Before You Start
You need Admin Panel access to Text Messaging.
Open Text Messaging from the MedCommerce Engine section of the left-side navigation.
This feature was previously called SMS Blast. The product name is now Text Messaging.
Shortened links for your messages are added to your account by your Client Experience Manager or during onboarding. If you do not see link options, contact support@repeatmd.com.
Patients must have opted in to receive marketing texts. Messages only go to opted-in app users.
Why It Matters
One-time text messages help you:
Reach patients quickly with time-sensitive offers or event details.
Drive app traffic using shortened links with optional call-to-action (CTA) buttons.
Schedule ahead so campaigns go out at the right day and time for your practice.
Test before you send with a preview and test message to your own phone.
How It Works
Broadcast audience: RepeatMD does not support audience segmentation for manual text messages. Each message goes to all opted-in app users at the selected location(s).
Shortened links: When composing a message, you can attach a shortened link with or without a CTA. Select None if you want the link without a CTA button.
Multi-location practices: Choose which valid location(s) should receive the message. Patients associated with those locations get the text.
Send now or schedule: Send immediately or pick a future date and time.
Preview and test: Review the message preview and enter your phone number to receive a test text before scheduling.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Create and schedule a text message
Log in to your Admin Panel.
Click Text Messaging in the MedCommerce Engine section of the left-side navigation.
Click the orange lightning bolt in the top right and select Create text message.
Type the message body.
Attach a shortened link if needed:
Choose a link with a CTA, or
Select None for a link without a CTA.
Enter an internal campaign name your team can identify later.
Select valid location(s) if you operate multiple locations.
Choose Send now or Schedule for a later date and time.
Review the message preview and enter your phone number to receive a test message.
When the message looks correct, click Schedule in the bottom right.
Best Practices and Pro Tips
Send a test message every time before scheduling a broadcast.
Use clear internal campaign names so your team can find past sends in reporting.
Pair texts with in-app content — manual texts work well alongside Discover cards and Special Offers.
Plan timing around your timezone — scheduled sends use your practice’s local settings.
Keep copy concise — SMS has character limits; lead with the offer and link.
Common Mistakes and FAQs
Q: Can I send a text to only part of my patient list?
A: Not at this time. Manual text messages go to all opted-in app users at the selected location(s). There is no audience segmentation.
Q: Why don’t I see shortened link options?
A: Shortened links are added during onboarding or by your CEM. Contact support@repeatmd.com to have them added.
Q: Who receives my text message?
A: Only patients who have downloaded your app and opted in to marketing texts for the selected location(s).
Q: Can I edit a message after scheduling it?
A: Check the Text Messaging list for edit or cancel options on scheduled campaigns. If unavailable, contact support before the send time.
Q: How is this different from automated text sequences?
A: This article covers manual, one-time broadcasts. Automated texts triggered by offers, rewards, and Custom Plans are system-generated. See Set up automated text message sequences (Admin Panel).
